great power, quality and price!
ive had this pump working great for 5 years. It just kicked the bed today but I honestly put it through the ringer and it held up time and time again. its been on nonstop pumping a 3k gallon pond full of fish, plants and ducks and even when it was almost completely clogged it would only slow down and not stop. For the price I paid, I thought I would need to replace this every two years! Highly recommend! if you treat yours right you'll probably get 10+ years out of it and not loose pressure. Happily buying a new one now.

Great pump for pond
We built a small 1,500 gallon pond for our backyard and were referred by a friend to use the Alpine Cyclone pump. The first one we bought was fantastic and lasted almost 4 years. The amount of water this pushes through our 3-ft tall cascade is awesome, and it's really easy to set up and clean. We house our pump at the bottom of our skimmer, so it runs constantly day and night except for when we turn it off for routine cleaning. When our first pump finally died, we liked it so well that we bought a second one. Unfortunately, the impeller on the inside was defective and the pump broke down after a few months. We reached out to Alpine's customer service through their website because the pump has a warranty, and the representative Judy was great! She got our problem resolved immediately and our pond was back up and running within a matter of days. I feel like I'm writing this review just as much for the excellent customer service we received as I am for the great pond pump; it's just great to see a company back up their product the way Alpine did for us. We'll be customers for life.

Great Waterfall Pump & How to Calculate what Flow Rate you need.
This pump is a powerhouse, putting out a real 3100GPH. Has more power than a typical sump pump and a little smaller in size. It is so powerful that I used a dimmer switch to make a variable control for it and it works great.* I use it to power a waterfall of about 8ft height and 25ft from the small pond (about 250gal) where it is submerged. This pump is as good as pumps twice the price. As with all outdoor pumps, be sure to use a bag filter with a thick media mesh inside. Most only have a top hole like the one I have, but I just cut an outlet hole on the side near the bottom so the pump can sit upright (intake on bottom). Also of course you need to take any pump out in the winter when the water can freeze as any residual water in it will also freeze and destroy it. I highly recommend this Alpine Cyclone pump. Calculating the Flow Rate you need for a Waterfall: To calculate the flow rate you need multiply the number of feet wide your waterfall is by 1500 and that will give you the gph (gallons/hour) flow rate you need. Then find a pump that has a similar flow rate at the height of your waterfall outlet (vertical distance between the pump and the waterfall outlet. For example, if you look at the chart I attached, you will see that this pump has a flow rate of 2251gph at 5' and 1390 at 10' and using the graph I made (under the chart), you will see that at 8' the flow rate is ~1800gph. While this is a little more than what I needed, it is better to be high than low as you can always decrease the flow rate by using a smaller tubing or by regulating the power to the pump.* Hope this has helped! *I'm sure you can by a variable speed control somewhere but I just took a light dimmer switch and spliced it into a 3-prong outdoor extension cord so I can plug it into the outlet and then plug the pump into the other end. Just make sure that the switch can handle the watts. Most light dimmers have a 600W or1000W max rating but your pump's watts should be less than 75% of the dimmer's rating. For instance, looking at the attached chart you will see that this pump uses 2.3A at 120VAC which is 276W (W=VxA) so there is no problem using a 600w dimmer but if you had a PAL8000 which uses 540W, you would need to use a 1000W dimmer since it is over 75% of a 600W max dimmer (75% of 600W is 450W).

Strong flow
Strong flow output but filter side input where water sucked in has a dangerous component of cover coming loose and sucking up small fish. So you have to secure this with a zip tie or fish line. Aquaculterist's nightmare with plants and fish getting stuck in there. Otherwise, nicely and strongly built, heavy base to prevent it from being knocked over if you have big fish or turtles, and has a good long cord so you can keep the plug connection out of the rain. Second one purchased and so far no blockage or trouble.

Perfect pump for pond filtration application
I bought this pump to help with filtration for a small pond with gold fishes. I connected a 1.5 inch hose to the outlet which then moves the water through a waterfall / filtration media. The pump has worked perfectly so far!

Alpine Pumps can look like new and keep on working 4 years or more.
I've purchased numerous pond pumps for over 20 years, including 14 from Amazon. Vivosun and Aqua Pulse are the worst, stopped working within months. Pumps from Home Depot and Lowe's work for about 1 year. Alpine is, by far, the best, with beautiful blue frame and last a long time. Alpine 3100 purchased in June 2020 stopped in 2024. Alpine 10000 purchased in June 2020 still works, but only half as strong as when new so I keep it as a backup. The two Alpine 8000 purchased in July 2021 are still working flawlessly. Note: Sometimes, Alpine stops working so I unplugged and cleaned out whatever clogged them, waited for about 10 minutes and plugged back in. Usually, they'd restart immediately but sometimes, I'd walk away and when I come back 30 minutes later, I'd discover that they're working flawlessly again for up to a year without issues.

Nice pump.
First thing I noticed with this pump is the weight. Heavy for a pump this size. Good because I don't want it moving around and usually means well made. Plugged in after things got connected and so far.....it is a beast. Everything is running well. Love the amount of water flow and definitely not disappointed. So nice to have our water sounds back again. I really like the fact that the parts(and part numbers) are labeled in the little booklet. This tells me that I should be able to get parts easily when needed, as most likely down the road the impeller will fail(usually the part that does). The only thing I will say is that if you are using both supplied adapters(like me) that come with it, there is only one supplied rubber washer. I have to use both as the input part is pulling through my pond filtration. Really should have two included. But so far that is my only pick. As it stands if you are looking for a nice pump I would totally recommend this pump. If there are any changes(hopefully not)....I will update my review to reflect.

Donde compro los adaptadores de manguera?
La bomba funciona bien es versรกtil porque puede funcionar tanto sumergible como externa. Pero los adapatadores de manguera se rompieron y no los encuentro en las ferreterias

Good pump!
We use it for our fish pond. It takes the water to our filter. Great work. We followed the suggestion from another user and have it connected to a light dimmer to reduce or increase the flow. Perfect solution if you think it is too powerful. We are very happy with it!
