It's definitely slim fit. I ordered an XL based on the size chart and while it fit, it was just a TAD too large/long (I'm 6'3" and 185, slim build, 42 chest). I washed it on gentle in warm water, laid it flat to (mostly) dry, then put it in the dryer on air (no heat) for 20 minutes. It shrank minimally, and now the size is perfect. The fabric is synthetic, beefy, not at all thin. So this is definitely a sweater for chilly weather. I have no idea how it will hold up after multiple wearings, but I'm happy with my purchase right now. I'm not sure where else you could find a new sweater for $27: It's a great value.
