The function of a correctly prepared Balance Sheet is to exhibit the true and correct view of the state of affairs of any concern. This new edition targets those questions related to the Balance Sheet that arise from some tricky sounding financial jargons which play important role in determining the overall fiscal health of the organization. Like in the earlier edition, readers would be taken through witty conversations infused with answers but this time they will cater to certain other equally important sections of the Balance Sheet that had not been previously addressed. Highlights of this edition: Real-life Balance Sheet illustrations on actual figures of five Indian Retail Apparel companies, along with their 'Common-Size' Balance Sheet illustrations and 'Shareholders Funds' illustrations. Identifying financial terms such as Capital Structure, Bad Debts, Advance from Customer, Notes to Accounts, Principle of Conservatism, Contractual Obligations or Ensuring Restrictions and Post-Balance Sheet Disclosures. Understanding the limitations of the Balance Sheet. Revised ExercisesTable of Contents:Preface Acknowledgements Introduction The Balance Sheet Importance of a Balance Sheet The Assets Side The Liability Side The Owners Equity Formats of the Balance Sheet What to See in a Balance Sheet? Example of Balance Sheet Exercises Review: Simple yet not a school book, perfect for an early stage investor - Simple, yet not an elementary ( just academic ) book, Many simple books become too basic, and not written in a business premise. However, this book is ( alongwith its 2 other books in series ) truly of great value. In fact, I had started with the "Cash Flow" book first, and went to the "Profit & Loss" later. And I found that Balance Sheet is the 1st thing one should start with, if he wants to establish as an Investor. The book starts with a very simple to understand example, and slowly unfolds the basic to advance concepts of a balance sheet. The exercises given at the end are also eye-opening. Just a suggestion to the authors : if querries resolutuion ( like I did with the help of Gemini ) is possible with the authors through an email or some way , can still be a great thing. The illustrations given in special brackets ( discussion between Finnova & Bholuram ) are also very good, and great learnings from the same. I also liked the comparison shown of 5 peer companies belonging to the same group. This indirectly gave me an Idea as to how to compare a company before investing. However, thanks to the Author, Publisher, the Seller & desertcart. It's a very good reference book. Review: Very good text book - Very intuitive Insightful Musy read at least 2 times for full understanding. If you really want to learn the topic, go buy it.

Very good book with very high price...
A very good book to read . I am not from management background. I read this because to understand any company' report as a investor... But it contains only 90 pages ..and price was 180+50delivery charge ..this was disheartening... The" intelligent investor " contains 600 pages and price is only 300...

Must read for all those who don't have Commerce background.
Must read for all those who don't have Commerce background. Everything is simply explained in simple language which is easily understood. I just like all books written by Mr.Kakani Ramchandran How to Read Profit and Loss Statement ... How to Analyze a Financial Statement ... How to Read a Balance Sheet ... Good thing is that all points have been explained through case studies.
