Exide 850VA 12V/40A Solar Hybrid Home UPS
I have ordered the item, 850VA/40A solar hybrid home UPS from Bareja Sales through Amazon.in on 7th april and the item was shipped on the next day. I received the item on 16th april. Nice packing, it withstood the travel from the delhi to kerala without any problem. The product is as described, and comes with a detailed user manual with simple to follow instructions for installation/operation. I had an inverter, hence it was easy to connect and check the basic functionality. First I checked the system by connecting to the battery (12V, 115Ah exide)and it was working fine. display turns on and gives the status. Then I checked by connecting to mains and connecting a test lamp 60W directly at the output socket. It was working and the change over from mains to battery and vice versa was also o.k I did not have solar panels hence had to wait till yesterday to get it from local market 3x 100W/12V HHV make panels. By the time I finished connection to the panels it was around 6.PM . I checked the panel voltage & it was around 12.7V. When connected to ups it was showing a "sad sun" symbol meaning that solar power not available. I checked the current in the panel circuit and it was showing around 0.457A . Waited and checked again today morning around 8.30 Am, with more sun light, the panel voltage rose to 17+ and smiling sun symbol turned on. Connected to all the 3x100W panels on the roof and switched on and it continued to work from mains and kept charging the batteries even though the smiling sun was on. Once the battery voltage reached around 14.5 V (full charge), ups automatically switched over from mains to UPS. It was still showing battery discharging symbol even though the system was working from solar. It also shows the load percentage on the display. As the sun grew stronger, even with a PC and couple of lights and fans on, the system kept working from solar and was also charging the battery. Overall a very good product with intuitive design. Automatic switching to solar /mains innovative. Unlike some of the other solar hybrid ups in the market, this has a 40A charger and can support upto 750W panels and the LCD display give all the information needed for a curious/technically inclined customer.Exide has not given the load power factor in the specification, but I assume it is about 0.7 and so it would support around 600Watts load. You can easily see when it is working from solar and when it is working from mains - one would want to know after spending around Rs26K without battery. Now I am waiting for the next electricity bill to see how much saving it gives. PS:I was little apprehensive about online purchase after my bad experience with e.bay.in, but this was beyond my expectations!!. I would rate my experience as excellent. Hats off to amazon, Bareja sales and exide. All the best, go ahead and try.

It is good so far
I am yet to use its solar capability, using it as normal inverter with mains & battery. It is good so far, but bit noisy during charging & discharging cycle. LCD display has been indicating if it is on mains or battery. It also cuts main if there is lower voltage than 180 or so.

Worst service & poor performane.
Worst on line service .Engineers & technicians not trained properly for providing on site service.Getting parts & repairing of product takes 2 months in this Digital age of the time.Unit consumes more stand alone power ,Hence spending on solar panels & saving power is useless.Fan operates 24x7,creates nose. Company should open service centers which are rich in spare parts at big cities state wise, rather than hiring technicians for onsite services & wasting money. if company needs ,I can help them to put up such service centers.I am writting this with 30 years of experience in this field. their technicians & engineers are not trained & give confusing answers, which may damage the product. My contact no.is 9824539444.

Very good product from Exide
Very good product from Exide; People should buy this kind of Hybrid inverter since it is very easy to connect the solar panel to this inverter. In future, due to rising electricity cost, people may go for solar panel and then they have to buy one more inverter setup for the same. From this exide inverter i can connect 750 W solar panel in future... More over it has LCD display for all monitoring and alerts... Besides it is a pure sine inverter...

Useful & wasteful
This is the best available model we can get at this price as well as we can use 750 W panel with this, but it consume more power for cooling the inverter itself. I'm Using 300 W panel with this inverter, the cooling fan is 24 hours running in any conditions (whether charging / not charging, load / No load), It consumes 30-40 W/hr. 720 W is required for self then what will come from solar?
