As long as the wall is not freshly painted.

This product is for fabric not intended for outside use.

can i use one side for metal and the other on fabric? I want to use it to attach a bedskirt to a metal bed platform.

I am not 100% sure but it will stick to metal. But it's designed to be used with textile. It will probably not have as good adhesion with metal. Try it and find out if it's strong enough.

Convenient alternative to buttons & zippers

This is a better than having to stitch on the velcro, but it's difficult to peel the backing off. Use this for pockets that don't have zippers or buttons. Only time will tell if the adhesive will last through many washings.
