NOW Foods Supplements, Prebiotic Bifido Boost with PreticX™ Xylooligosaccharide (XOS) Prebiotic, Powder, 3-Ounce

I really like this product! I add it to my coffee and it's a tiny bit sweet, but in coffee you cant really taste it. I take it as a prebiotic, so I usually take a probiotic or drink some kefir with it, as this kind of prebiotic really supports your "good" gut bacteria! It has helped me feel a lot less bloated and become more regular! Plus I read that it can help with inflammation, which I need! It's super easy to dissolve in warm or hot liquids, so putting it in coffee is perfect. In cold liquids it kinda clumps together. I'm going to continue to take it as I've had really great results so far!

I purchased these prebiotics after doing a GI Map test that showed I had a massive overcrowding of bad bacteria in my microbiome. One of the recommendations was taking a XOS prebiotic. I went to my trusty Amazon and searched for prebiotics. I am familiar with NOW Supplements so decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. I add a 1/2 teaspoon to my daily smoothie along with my collagen powder. I have had no negative reactions to the product and can only hope it is helping me boost my good gut bacteria.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: After I bought, I mix it with water or food every day. It worked for me so I bought it three times already.

I think this is great stuff. They say it takes just a little to have the same effect of other oligosaccharides (like FOS, GOS, etc). Ergo, you can, I think, avoid some of the bloating which might come with too many of these FODMAP soluble fibres. Notably, it seems in particular to increase your Akkermansia Muciniphilia bacteria which is all to the good. I read this in a scientific paper the name of which I have forgotten. I'm sure it increases other commensal bacteria as well. And NOW Foods is a good outfit I believe. So how can you go wrong? Check it out! I think you will be glad you did. P.S. From extensive reading and personal experience, I strongly believe in the importance of soluble fibre for good health. In fact, I believe it is time to make FIBRE the 4th. major food group, along with carbs, proteins, and fats. Fibre is real, real, big. Go fibre!

This prebiotic is offered at a good price. My gastroenterologist recommended adding 1 tbsp of this to green tea with manuka honey twice daily as part of a natural treatment regimen for Heliobacter pylori overgrowth. Go easy when you first start taking this. Prebiotics work, in part, by fermentation, so this can experience a lot of flatulence (gas). This is NOT a flaw of the product. I could not tolerate 1 tbsp twice daily, so I reduced it to 1 tsp. Hope this helps!

I am reading the fantastic book FIBER FUELED by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, and getting serious about my digestive health, so I wanted to try this. It is a "prebiotic." Dr. Bulsiewicz says go slowly with this type of supplement. It is delicious, and I take small spoons of it during the day and when I wake up at night, because I think it may best reach the colon on an empty stomach. My digestion feels wonderful, but I also combine this product with other high fiber foods and "resistant starch." If you are interested in this product you also want to learn about resistant starch, and also the other oligosaccharides: isomalto-, fructo-, galacto-, etc. This product seems fresh. I know it is effective, because I am experiencing good results. What I have learned is that the way to feel good is through your gut. In other words, try treating your brain issues through your digestive issues.

FYI - this is a powder form. That isn’t a problem. However, the packaging stinks. It requires measuring out a teaspoon. A kitchen teaspoon doesn’t fit. A measuring teaspoon doesn’t fit either. There is a lot of waste to pour it out from a round bottle to measure it. It needs better packaging.
