Is it possible to remove the plastic steam inlet cover?

I have the white toaster oven, which is an off white. Is the kettle the same off white as the toaster oven?

I have both the white matte finish tea kettle and the toaster oven. They are the same color. The only drawback on the kettle is that it doesn't hold as much water as a traditional tea kettle. Probably around 16 oz. but I'm not sure.
