What do you recommend for getting rid of offensive smell noted by several reviewers?

I rolled out the moss on a table in my garage for a few days to 'air it out'. That seemed to help but aside from the smell, the plastic sheet the moss was attached to was sparsely covered and moss fell off of it.

Don't know, it was horrible stuff threw it away. Fell apart and made a huge mess.

Will this turn colors after a month or so?

No, it stays the same color. It is very messy to work with but as long as you leave it once in place, it will be fine.
