Storm Safety Whistle (Orange)

This whistle is exceptionally loud, so no worries on that score. (In fact, in an enclosed area it can actually hurt your ears if blown with full gusto!).I bought mine to include in a small emergency kit for use when fellwalking in the Lake District.Obviously, as with all such emergency gear, we all hope that we will never need to use it in anger, but it's reassuring to know that you have the right bit of kit for the job, should the need arise.My only gripe is that at the end of the day, it's just a couple of bits of plastic and a split ring - which, realistically, can't cost more than a few pence to manufacture. So, my personal opinion is that it is very much over-priced for what it actually is.However, I certainly haven't found anything out there that's louder, so over-priced or not, this had to be the one.

This is a very simple yet effective item, and does exactly what it says. I read other reviews about this hurting your ears so, I tested it out by blowing gently and it was still extremely loud, making a very high pitch tone *do not blow this loudly out of water unless it is an emergency or you are wearing ear defence*. Under water it works great and got everyones attention. I hope to never need this whistle but I feel better knowing I have one just in case. I definitely recommend keeping this with you.

Great as a safety whistle but gave me tinitus and I couldn't hear properly for two days after blowing hard on this. I would advise putting fingers in ears before you use it. It does take a big blow to do that but it is very, very loud. Came quicker than expected. So it does what it is supposed to and came in plenty of time. You can't say that about a lot of stuff from Amazon and I'm impressed with the product and the firm who supplied it.
