If you need to hold your rod securely while using your hands, why put it on a zinger?

Nice catch. The zinger would not help stabilize the rod, which is the whole point of using a clip. Also I note on Orvis’ site a number of reviews where the zinger is criticized for its poor quality, a curious departure from Smith’s touting their zinger’s custom build. Some apparently even lost the clip downstream due to zinger failure. I think I would remove the zinger and use a ring to fasten the clip directly to an ideal D ring location or even safety pin it to my shirt, vest, or bag.

Approximately how much weight (oz or lbs) can it hold Could you use to carry a couple rods bungied together?

I believe its only meant for 1 rod to be secured to it while on your vest or sling. I use mine in the float tube or while wading so i dont drop my rod in the drink. so i can take a fish off or change a fly or whatever. i would not try more than 1 rod attached to this as it is. out of all the gadgets i own for fly fishing, this is probably one of my favourites for sure. its expensive. but its worth it.
