Does this product emit shortwave UV light or longwave UV light?

Thanks for your question. The uvBeast emits longwave ultraviolet light. Here's some comparative information on short and long wave which for your reference is measured in nano meters (nm for short). UV light is subdivided into three bands: UV(A) (315-400nm), UV(B) (280-315nm) and UV(C) (100-280nm). It is the UV(A) component of our UV LEDs that cause and is responsible for excitation of target objects which allows them to fluoresce. Longwave applications cater for domestic and professional contexts, while shortwave applications are for specialist industries such as clinical, bio-medical, geological, etc. Hope that informs. uvBeast

What is the purpose of a UV light like this?

Read my review as I use it to check for everything from pet stains, UV reactive materials, and gemstone verification. The light it shines works in daylight and can find some pests such as scorpions and bedbugs.

Does this fit 18650 batteries?

Hi there. Thanks for your question. No the 100 LED versions do not accept 18650. HOWEVER due to numerous demand, the uvBeast V3 does, which has just been released. This is an improvement over the V2 and also represents huge cost savings with regards to battery supplies. Just click on the "uvBeast" link right at the top of our listing which takes you to the range of our UV flashlights. Let us know if you need any more information. [uvBeast]
