awesome album

I fully recommend buying but mostly listening to Arca Xen. Interesting artwork and new not clichéd, thrilling music.

great but strange record

Archie's debut album ‘Xen’ is a shapeshifting bullet to the body. The brittle elasticity of ‘Now You Know’ opens to stunning effect, a staggering introduction to a fascinating album. An already disorientating start takes a solemn turn with ‘Held apart’, where Arca plays a piano track which is just very carefully nudged rather than distorted. Its a subtle technique used throughout ‘Xen’, on tracks like ‘Sad Bitch’, ‘Wound’ and ‘Family Violence’, which shows a versatility missing on his excellent ‘&&&&&’ mixtape. Arca plays it both ways, and everything inbetween, and tracks like ‘Thievery’ and ‘Fish’ show that he can deliver on the dancefloor as much as in the mind. ’Xen’ flows of its own volition, rhythms and beats come and go, morphing into new patterns mid-track, set to no time or place. Its clear that Arca wants to keep you on your toes, yet there’s a peculiar equilibrium which stops you feeling alienated, a tempting in-between state of unease and pleasure. ‘Xen’ is a world full of intricacies and abstractions which sound both a world away yet rooted in the now, a prismatic worldview of chaos and contradictions. The future is certainly bright for Arca.

Il disco è meraviglioso, a mio parere migliore di Mutant. Il vinile è arrivato in anticipo, incellofanato e protetto da un case di cartone che, una volta aperto, potrete tranquillamente riutilizzare per i vostri vinili. Il fodero di cartone in foto contiene, oltre al vinile, in un fodero nero a parte, un opuscolo delle stesse dimensioni con foto di Jesse Kanda, che ha realizzato anche la copertina del disco.

La impresión del empaque del disco es muy bueno, aunque estaba mal pegado, se abrió un poco de la parte de abajo, lo cual no es problema porque con un pco de pegamento queda, el verdadero problema es con el disco, tiene mucho ruido, cuando la aguja lo está leyendo se escucha un sonido que no para durante todo el disco, haciéndose notar en las partes con menos volúmen, aunque no es molesto y cabe mencionar que el audio del disco es de excelente calidad, además me encantó que la versión en vinilo sí trae el booklet en tamaño grande de muy buena calidad con todo el trabajo creativo de Jesse Kanda.
