I think this is the very best music player available
Reasons: 1) When you power it up, it begins play right where you were when you powered it off. and, it powers up automatically when attached to the usb, so a light switch on my wall makes my music play. 2) your computer treats it like a thumb drive so you don't need to sync it with a complicated or fancy program. Simply drag and drop your media in the folder. 3) it has excellent error handlers, meaning that it can play through corrupt music without missing a beat. 4) simple to add a song to a playlist or delete it, compared to my iTouch devices. Down Sides: 1) the output is low. Your speakers need to be amplified enough to compensate for how low the signal is. If using earphones in a noisy environment, the output may be too low to enjoy. 2) Small unit, small battery, hence the low output signal and as a result, battery life is less than iPod type devices but actually not that bad. At half volume, it will play music for roughly 12 hours and 4 hours at full volume. If you have amplified speakers, turn the player down and the speakers up to make the battery last longer. I have bought 7 of these over the last 5 years. With Hi-Def music taking up more space, the 4 gigs is getting smaller and smaller so when I run out of space, I buy another.

something is fishy
Ive owned a couple of these things and LOVED EM! the best thing I like is the fact that you can rewind back into the next song...sort of like a cd player! all of mines died DUE TO WATER DAMAGE! and one to BATTERY ISSUES. But I must say there is something fishy about this one...it freezed on me 3 times within the time period I brought it...now I wouldnt make such a big deal about it but since Ive read the reviews on this and ppl are saying the same thing it kinda makes me jumpy...and the fact that it has never happened to me on my other ones....at least not when you first buy them...and maybe even once at that! I will update on the progress...

The little GoGear that can't
Th Philips GoGear 4 GB Vibe MP3 Video Player with 1.5-Inch Color Screen The new "Vibe" has a touch control that does not work well. I had to download an update to turn it on to work. It does have an improved sound quality. It is difficult to operate one of the side controls without changing the other controls on the opposite side because of the small size. I did not have these problems with my original GoGear MP3. KaAnn

Great, for the price
This isn't going to have the same quality as an ipod. The headphones that came with it are horrible. No matter what, รพis isn't capable of playing songs without a gap in between. The battery isn't going to last you forever. But here's why I traded in my Nano for this thing: -All of it works decently. The screen is decent. The buttons are decently laid out. The menu is decently intuitive. Nothing wrong with the sound quality that I could hear. -Managing my music playlist through the file manager of any computer: Friend wants me listen to a song, I can plug it in and have them put it on with no fuss. I'm a micromanager of my playlists, song organization, song order, and I often find that iTunes or Windows Media Player are working against me in terms of organization. Add to that, no need to boot up iTunes every time I want to change something. If I could own a computer that ran iTunes without freezing, I wouldn't be writing reviews for $20 mp3 players. Add to that, it's easy to make a backup if everything exactly how it was. I've always got 4 gigs free on my hard drive and it means when this breaks, I'll be able to restore exactly as it was. -Easy to operate from my pocket, without looking: Because we all need to change the song while driving a car or on a really cold day sometimes. There's something about being able to memorize that Demolicious is hitting left-left-down down-right-down x15 or whatever it is. -Sturdy: Feels like a crappy piece of plastic, but I ran an F250 truck over one of these without cracking the screen or breaking the input buttons. Wouldn't recommend testing that again. Sending this through the washing machine broke my screen, but it played and at least I could find Demolicious -Cheap: THIS DEVICE! I LIKE IT! *throws it on the ground, shattering it to pieces* ANOTHER!!

NOT RECOMMENDED
I bought this product due to the positve reviews and apparent features. Should have listened more to the negatives. After a little over two weeks, the unit has started just shutting down after an hour or two of playing music. I keep it in my pocket while I walk, read, etc. and it seems to be getting warm. After it cools off, I have to RESET and only then it comes back to life (just plugging it into the USB cable won't work by itself. The battery seems good - even after two or three hours it's still full bars, but the video is dreadful. Looks like about 50 X 50 pixels. Also, it's a little bit of a pain to stop and start songs. Sometimes I stop a song, try to 'close' music by going to the main menu and then shut down. When I restart music is already resumed and I don't even have the headphones on yet. On the minor annoyances side, it's a little too easy to press two buttons #both sides# at the same time even when just holding the unit. Also, turning it off sometimes just doesn't work - I have to let go and retry a couple times. One last thing - Philips ought to be ashamed of selling a product with only a three to four INCH USB cable - it's next to worthless, but fortunately I have several other 'normal' length cables with the same plug. Basically, this is a product I wish I had NOT purchased. I'm about to see how good customer support is and will update this review.

Not for the computer-illiterate
I was unable to upload any inf onto the player with the dvd enclosed in the pkg. Radio reception works ok and that's all I'm able to get. Requested info from seller, no response.

Confusing
My family wanted to start using Rhapsody, but my iPod Nano wasn't equipped for that so I bought this. I read through the pamphlets, I looked online for instructions, and so on but I could not figure out this thing. I think I finally got 4 songs on it and gave up. Now that I have a new laptop, I can use my iPod again - I will always route for iTunes. I'm sorry, but this device was a pain.
