Recommend highly
Easy setup. Works as expected, plus other features that original sync module2 did not support. Like distance mountings and video clarity and a micro SD card port.

Be very careful with set up and pack your patience if you want to use the XR instead of "the cloud"
Works beautifully ... after spending hours trying to get the system to reorient to work with the XR instead of the "cloud" for backup. If wanting to have your own back ups and not use the "cloud" is your goal, like mine was when I purchased the entire system. May the gods have mercy on your soul - if you get stuck on a page in set up that won't let you leave without clicking "ok" (there is no choice - you have to click the button to get out of the page) and you get stuck on their "free cloud trial", and then if you quit early too...ugggh! If you decide to set this up after the fact because you don't want to use the "cloud," it may be touchy too. Blink clearly wants you to be in their "cloud" family and they make it VERY difficult to leave the family. Make sure you set up as clean as possible - fresh account (only set up the blink app on one device (until after you get everything up and running) then you can add it to more (it can give you a ghost effect and make switching over more difficult, if you do have problems). Start by adding the XR first, then add in the other cameras and items one at a time. Help yourself by taking pictures of all of your devices' codes when you add your batteries, before you mount them in unreachable places (just in case you need them later). I found their website to be useless for help on setting this up or solving any of the issues with it. They are really forcing you into the cloud. There are some things you get with the cloud (people recognition and the like) that you don't get if you are using the XR as a standalone in place of their cloud. But once it is up and running... it seems to do great. The motion detectors are working. The cameras are taking pics and recording properly now, and I can do the camera thumbnails. Without the "cloud" you can record a clip of something you are watching live. So you have to wait for the recording and then check it out - but by the time you log in to see it, the clip is usually already saved. I also had trouble with one of my devices, a doorbell camera. I set up my XR to be pretty equidistant from all of my cameras - but I was getting hit or miss with camera response on the "cloud", with that camera - motion detection yes, but the camera was acting like it was out of range. Once I got everything over to the XR and functioning properly, I've not had that problem. It seems to work fine.

Fixed the problem
Cameras quit working... original module no longer connected to Internet. After over two months of customer service saying my Internet was the problem I bought the module and my cameras work again. After I proved it was the equipment they sent me a piece of junk module. Hope you never have a problem. I'm out 2 months of service and the price of the module.

A True Upgrade That Makes Blink Outdoor Cameras Even Better
The Blink Sync Module XR has revolutionized the working of my Blink Outdoor 4 cameras and trust me when I say it’s one of the best upgrades you can do for your Blink set-up. If you’ve been frustrated with the signal strength or the range of your wireless cameras, this device will banish all those problems away instantly. The range is the highlight of this device, as it connects your cameras seamlessly when they are far away from your house. Setup was extremely fast and stressless. It truly makes the process of setting up easy even for a person who wouldn’t call themselves very techies. All the steps are completed in a few minutes, and at that point, the system has been flawless. Cameras which had issues connecting are now working perfectly because of the use of the XR and XR+ features. It’s great to know the range of the cameras reaches up to 250 feet or higher if necessary. One feature that is most noticeable in practical applications is the responsiveness to every feature. Motion alerts come in swiftly because of the advanced dual-zone motion detection feature. Whether it is a delivery, a visitor, or some other unexpected activity, you can be sure the alert will come in quick enough to be considered helpful. A resolution of 1080p HD gives video quality that is clear and detail-filled, and nighttime observation is remarkably sharp. Two-way audio integration is another area to be excited about. Talking to others using the Blink system and its application feels very organic. It is very convenient to use two-way audio to chat with food delivery personnel or check in with family and friends who are not physically present. The battery life on the system is simply stellar. It lasts two years under regular use. This sole aspect of the system is a world unto itself. Another thing that I appreciate about the device is how scalable the entire system is. The fact that you can control various cameras simultaneously through the same application is perfect. The ability to either disarm or arm the entire system at once saves me a lot of time. You can either opt for cloud storage or even back up through a MicroSD card. The compatibility with Alexa is seamless. My thoughts, the Blink Sync Module XR is a dependable, range-extending, worry-free device, the sort of thing that feels like it’s been well and honestly thought about in practical, real-world terms. A good camera system has just gotten even better, and if you want reliable coverage of your entire property with a minimum fuss, this improvement is well worth the cost.

Works great for extended range but there are limits to the number of cameras
I have been waiting over a year for this new module to come out and it finally did. There are many positives and some limitations that are not thoroughly described on the item : + It works fine with A new blink camera at 250 feet which is beyond my wifi range. That alone makes it a winner and a keeper for use on a far away gate or outside a building. +The quality of the unit appears to be heavier and much better than the earlier plastic sync modules which are lightweight plastic. +Easy to hook up and sync with new cameras The minus: There are three ranges you can set the camera on using the new sync module. In the highest quality video mode, you are not restricted on the number of cameras as you are in wifi mode. In the extended range up to 250 feet you can use two cameras at mid quality video but the others must be on high quality wi fi. If you use the 400 feet max extended range, you can only use 1 camera at lowest quality and the others must be on wifi. If you intend on running several cameras at max range it will not work as you can only add one camera at max range 400 feet per module without adding a second module. -You are limited to 2 modules per account which equals 4 cameras at 250 feet mid quality or 2 cameras at 400 feet lowest quality plus the remaining 8 cameras per module at wifi range. As long as you understand that the module will not allow you to add multiple long range cameras (only 2 at 250ft or 1 at 400 feet) then it is a great addition to the blink system.

Not Worth It doesn't work or extend range
Update 3 Dec 2025: okay so it's been a year since I've been using this XR module. After all of the problems I had originally it started to work pretty well and you can only have two cameras connected to the XR Network at a time. Recently within the last couple of days, there has been an update that has been pushed through for Blink and now the XR module will not work properly. All of my cameras that are connected to the Wi-Fi network work perfectly they send motion notifications and they record video. The two cameras connected to the XR module extended Network have stopped recording video and they do not send any motion notifications any longer. I tested those two cameras by changing their Network to my Wi-Fi network and they worked perfectly. When I put them back on the XR Network no more notifications no more video. I've sent in an email to their support group letting them know that something is wrong with the XR module and any cameras attached to it will now not record video or send notifications to your phone. This is a huge security risk because the two cameras I have connected to that Network have to be on that Network because of their locations and I was told by Blink that I had to buy the XR module because of where I have those cameras so I have to spend the extra 70 bucks to buy a module that Now does not work correctly after one year. I have rebooted the system, I have restarted my home wi-fi, I have removed the batteries from my cameras and put them back in to reset the cameras, and still no video recording and no notifications for any camera attached to the XR Network. Very disappointing! Update 2: received an email on December 26th from an executive representative from blink . We have been emailing back and forth for the last few days and this executive representative has asked me to grant them access to my account which I did and to send a picture showing the location of the sink module and the camera . My sink module is located in my garage approximately 20 ft away from where the camera is located on the outside of the garage. So there is only one thin wall separating the two . The blink representative told me that I need to move the sync module closer to the camera which doesn't make sense because this sink module is supposed to extend your range up to 400 ft away and it's only 20 ft away right now . I find blink customer service is not very helpful or knowledgeable . And when I bring up the fact that one of their previous representatives, from a call last week, told me there is a known issue and they know that these are not working the way they should the new representative ignores that comment and will not respond to it which leads me to believe that they are hiding something . As of right now I have called Amazon customer service to file a complaint for them selling a product that has a known technical issue and the only resolution that Amazon was able to give me is to order a new sync module XR set it up and then return the other one for a full refund . Update 1: spoke with blink customer service again and gave them access to my blink app and they can see that the XR module is not providing the range it is supposed to. They then connected me with their technical support team who verified that they are experiencing issues with this module XR . Again they did not offer to replace this module or to make this good they just said wait and you will get an email when they have discovered the issue with their module. They said it is a known issue I am not the only one experiencing this but I just ordered this because the blink team emailed me saying hey you should get one of these you'll extend your range you'll have longer battery life. But it's not the case this supplies less signal and less range than the standard module . I ordered this because 2 of my outdoor 4 cameras were farest away from the wifi. Once received and set up the XR module gives you 2 more networks to choose from: an extended range(xr) network allowing up to 250 feet and an extended range plus (XR Plus) networks allowing up to 400 feet. Note only 2 cameras at a time can use the xr networks, all others use wifi - this was Not well explained in the description. Here's where the issue starts once fully connected, the xr plus network with 400 ft range only gave me one red bar of signal. The xr network with 250 ft range gave me 4 green bars. I called blink customer support and they reviewed my camera settings and agreed that something is wrong as the xr plus should provide the strongest signal not the weakest. They didn't offer a replacement even though they admit it's not working correctly. So frustrating because this camera system is really easy and user friendly but the required sync module xr isn't working correctly and I purchased this specifier the extended range

Offers extended range beyond WiFi for my Outdoor 4 camera
The Blink Sync Modules are control hubs for the cameras and doorbells in your Blink camera system. For customers without a subscription, they are capable of providing local storage when a compatible memory device is added. The Sync Module XR is Blink's 3rd generation hub, offering the same functionality as the Sync Module 2 but using MicroSD storage and a USB-C power connector instead of the older USB-A thumb drive and micro power connector. It is slightly larger than the older model, but there is no USB thumb drive sticking out, and the overall look is sleeker with an all-white body. The operational change over the previous model is the addition of the Extended Range (XR) mode that works with Blink's Outdoor 4 cameras. My installation spans two residences and includes a mix of Blink doorbells, Mini, Mini 2, wired floodlight and Outdoor 4 cameras. In all cases, my 19 cameras were within strong WiFi range of my routers. I've had no problems with connectivity with any of the cameras or Sync Module 2's. When the Sync Module XR was announced (previously called the Sync Module Pro) I became very interested in its ability to connect with Outdoor 4 cameras beyond WiFi range. Would it allow me to position a camera further out on my property, facing the house? To find out, I purchased the XR and another Outdoor 4 camera. I mounted the camera to the bottom of my mailbox, about 120 feet from the Sync Module XR. Setup screen clearly shows that the WiFi signal is too weak for a reliable connection. But in the XR mode, I get a full signal. It's nice to have a broader perspective view of my yard and driveway. The Sync Module XR does limit the number of cameras connected in the XR mode to two. For cameras in the WiFi mode, you can have up to 10--same as the other Sync Modules. The website also mentions that you are limited to 2 Sync Module XRs per account but no limit to the older models. This could be a consideration if you are planning a more extensive system like mine. Like the Sync Module 2, you must remove the drive to access the clip files stored on the drive either as primary or backup. I find it easier to remove a thumb drive than a MicroSD card, so this may be a consideration in choosing which model to purchase. Bottom line is that the Blink Sync modules are required if you are using the Battery powered cameras giving them up to 2 year battery life with default settings. Either model will work well, but the XR has the ability to greatly extend the range for up to 2 Outdoor 4 cameras.
