Tapo MagCam 2K security camera-liking it so far.
So far, so good. Camera seems to work pretty well. Clear picture, easy setup, etc. The app, as of writing this review, is working fine. That was my biggest concern. The last camera i purchased i had to return. I won't give the name of that camera brand, just know it wasn't the Tapo brand. The app on the other brand stopped working properly after a few days. No amount of troubleshooting would fix the issue. So, having said that, I'm liking this Tapo MagCam. I'm really hoping it continues to work, because it really is a nice camera.

Great quality in this price range, magnet mount is a game changer.
Can't beat it for the price. I LOVE the magnet mount, battery life is fantastic, and the motion sensor and zone settings are easy and work well.

Love it
The TP-Link Tapo MagCam is an absolute winner in the realm of outdoor security cameras! Earning the prestigious 2024 PCMag Editors' Choice and Wirecutter Recommended accolades speaks volumes, and after experiencing it firsthand, it's easy to see why. Setup was an absolute breeze thanks to the innovative magnetic mount. Seriously, it took mere minutes to securely place the camera exactly where I needed it without any complicated drilling or wiring hassles. This flexibility in placement is a huge plus, allowing for quick adjustments to the viewing angle as needed. The 2K resolution delivers incredibly crisp and clear video quality. Details are sharp, making it easy to identify faces and objects, even when zoomed in. The wide 150° field of view is fantastic, capturing a broad expanse of my property and minimizing blind spots. I feel confident that I'm getting a comprehensive view of what's happening outside. The battery life has been impressive so far. I haven't had to recharge it nearly as often as I initially anticipated, which is a significant convenience. Knowing it's battery-powered also gives me peace of mind during power outages. The person and vehicle detection features are remarkably accurate. I receive timely and relevant notifications without being bombarded by alerts for every passing leaf or stray animal. This smart detection truly helps to focus on what matters most. Having the option of both SD card and cloud storage provides excellent flexibility for storing footage. I appreciate being able to choose the method that best suits my needs and preferences. The Tapo app is also intuitive and user-friendly, allowing for easy access to live feeds, recorded videos, and settings adjustments from anywhere. In summary, the TP-Link Tapo MagCam is a top-tier outdoor security camera that offers: Effortless Magnetic Installation: Makes setup and repositioning incredibly simple. Stunning 2K Resolution: Provides crystal-clear video with excellent detail. Wide 150° Field of View: Captures a broad area, minimizing blind spots. Long-Lasting Battery: Reduces the need for frequent recharging. Intelligent Person/Vehicle Detection: Delivers accurate and relevant alerts. Flexible Storage Options: Supports both SD card and cloud storage. User-Friendly App: Offers easy access and control. If you're looking for a reliable, high-performing, and easy-to-use outdoor security camera, the TP-Link Tapo MagCam is an outstanding choice. It's a worthy investment for enhancing your home security!

Good value
Has a good picture and easy to put up. Will pick up any movement which runs your battery down pretty quick. For long term I would suggest a hard wired camera.

Great Camera and Well Built
I have a previous have a Tapo 2K indoor wired camera and I love the feature and quality. The video is sharp and clear. Connection is strong and app feature is great. I also like the live feature that it stays on to continuous monitoring not like other camera with cut-off after 2-5 minutes. Do I recommend it, 100% YES

I have a few different Tapo cams, I wish all my wireless ones were this one.
Very wide angle view great connectivity and great battery life. Top tier for a wireless tapo cam! If you are new to Tapo just know there is no pc app. There is so much to like about this eco system that I'm okay with that. I have better than average experience with consumer grade cams of various brands. Its hard to beat these for the performance, features, and lower price. Honestly, I do wish they all had better microphones for outdoor environments.. That's pretty much true of all the affordable cam systems

It's easy to install, just charge the battery over night before you use
It has a clear picture, and love that it shows color at night too. It let's you know when someone is walking by or coming up to you door. Would recommend

It’s about as good as a battery powered camera can get
Battery powered cameras are severely limited. I knew this going in. It was cheap, it was easy to put up, it works well. It definitely lags around 3-4s from reality due to the WiFi-only connection. It’s not possible to record these to an NVR since they only record when they detect something or your battery would die quickly. By far the biggest problem with every battery powered camera is that every recording inevitably starts with the subject well into the frame (in the best case scenario). A wired camera will record all the time, keeping 5-10s of footage in its memory. Then if it detects something, it can save that past 10s of video data so you can see the entire event. This one does seem to work better than the Reolink Argus 2/3 I had, where the entire recording would be the back of the subject leaving the frame. I feel like this wakes up quicker. But a fast moving person or animal could still easily run thru without being captured, if they knew it was there. Mine is high up with a broad view which reduces that issue but seems to cause a different one. The app warned me today “my battery is draining too fast”. I just have this up in my back yard and there have been a few people walking around back there. I guess I’m supposed to point it at the ground rather than out across a wide area? Reviewing the footage, there aren’t any false positives at all so I don’t really want to dial down the sensitivity. my options seem to be either reduce the coverage or ignore the warning and charge it more often. Neither seems ideal. The battery life is still at 98% tho and it’s been up and recording for 3 1/2 days. That’s pretty great. Hopefully it lasts at least a few years before the battery starts failing. Obviously a battery powered camera is ultimately a disposable item since the battery will degrade and it can’t be replaced. not that it would be especially difficult technically, but finding an exact match would be tough. Any change whatsoever (chemistry, amps, volts, etc) could render it dangerous to charge. Dont really want to risk a lithium fire inside for a $45 camera. I really like the Tapo camera’s “AI” (probably not) detection. It is really configurable and works well. However, it works better and has more functionality on the wired cameras AND they’re cheaper. Also the app keeps warning me that using the detection features uses a lot of battery. The magnetic grip is strong! It comes with a plate to mount it but I just stuck it to my garage (metal). Seems sturdy enough. If not moved I’ll use the plate, and the cameras attachment to that thing feels strong enough to withstand a hurricane. Super powerful magnet there, that’s really nice. However, I don’t see any mechanism to keep someone from pulling it down and taking it with them. Nothing you can really do either way, but some locking mechanism might be nice. If you want to get a camera, do everything in your power to wire them. POE works best. My most important cameras are POE and that’s all I’d use for anything critical. But if you MUST have a battery powered camera, this is the best one I’ve used! Just be aware of the considerable drawbacks with any battery security camera. You’re trading ease of installation for greatly reduced reliability, functionality, and ultimately you have to put in more work later to take it down and charge it, etc.

TAPO

A solid built and a good Len CCTV
A very solid built camera. Through my mistakes I did not secured it and it fell twice from 2m height and only a slight dent on the 2nd fall. Body and Len are totally intact and no damage. Camera Len is great and the lights are bright too
