Complete satisfaction with my previous purchases gave me the confidence to buy the Slide strap without first seeing one in the flesh. This strap was bought because I have arthritis in my cervical spine and a conventional neck strap gives me discomfort when carrying my camera. To solve that issue I had previously used a chest harness that I had adapted with a Capture Clip that proved extremely comfortable in use. A major drawback of this though is the fact that when I shoot, the camera is just held in my hand and therefore tempting to thieves. It is also easy to slip on rough ground and drop a valuable camera. On a recent photoshoot in London's Brick Lane a resident took the trouble to warn me of a spate of camera snatches. Bearing in mind the value of my camera, I resolved to explore other options. The Slide strap offers me the ability to have the camera slung across my body while still allowing easy access. It means that while the camera is in my hands, the strap remains around my torso and thus cannot be snatched by a passing thief on a bicycle. Using it gives me a greater sense of security, and I don't think that is misplaced. The strap is cleverly designed with one side being smooth, and the other fitted with silicone gripping areas. Simply flipping it over permits one to transition from a strap that can easily slide across fabrics in order to allow a camera to be brought to the eye without problems, to a strap that does not slide off the shoulder. Using a slippery strap usually makes one hitch one shoulder higher than the other to prevent the strap from slipping off, soon causing pain. The strap has a level of internal padding to cushion the weight of a larger camera/lens (beware the Slide Lite does not possess this feature). The buckles are incredibly simple to operate, even with one hand, so that the strap can be shortened/lengthened in a second or two. The strap can be attached to the camera in a number of ways using the plate and quickly-detachable fittings known as Peak Design Anchors. These QD fittings are the work of a genius and can be operated with just one hand. I would recommend watching Peak Design's video on Youtube for advice on how to set up and wear this strap. The price of this strap may initially seem a little steep, but this must be balanced against the value of one's camera. For me, with a used camera and lens coming in at more than £2.5K, the price is a small fraction of what I have paid for my photography. It makes the camera easier to use, as does all Peak Design's gear, plus it makes it harder for a dishonest person to deprive me of gear that I have had to work hard to afford. Review: Thoughtful design, great for carrying a heavy camera. - If appearance matters this is a very smart, silky looking strap. I really like the Midnight Blue colour. It is so distinctive that on my first outing with it I noticed another photographer wearing exactly the same strap - it was the colour, silkiness, and leather highlights that made it instantly identifiable at a distance. But looks don’t really matter; is it worth the money and does it do what it’s supposed to do? For many years I’ve been carrying my Canon dSLR and 100-400mm lens around in my hand with the strap wrapped around my wrist for security. I’m getting on a bit and on a day out having 4lbs weight hanging from my wrist for hours at a time was getting a bit tiring, so I searched for a solution and the Peak Design strap popped onto my radar. It’s expensive. Other people do similar things for less. But there are several features worthy of note. There are some rubber bits on one side of the middle of the strap. When the strap is twisted so that these are facing down, they act as resistance to movement and stop the strap sliding around. When on the top of the strap then the silky side of the strap is against clothing and slides easily so there is no resistance when lifting the camera to the eye. The attachment lugs (three are supplied) clip into the ends of the strap easily, and attach to the normal strap mounting points on the camera. I find them a bit fiddly to remove because the plastic button that you have to press down is shiny and has nothing to grip against the finger. It has to be pressed down with a little force (against a spring) and then slid out of the mount on the end off the strap. A metal attachment for the third lug is supplied to fix to the tripod screw thread. Attaching the strap to one side lug and this base lug means that longer lenses hang down and are more comfortably carried. This works very well. The problem is I had to remove my tripod quick release plate in order to install the strap mounting point. I use the strap more than a tripod so it isn’t a major problem, and Peak Design sell a Manfrotto compatible mounting plate for lug attachment - but that’s an additional expense. In between camera use I found that the camera wouldn’t stay at my back but would slide around to my hip where it was less comfortable. The rubber bits may have stopped this creep but I needed quick access to get the camera to shooting position. In conclusion I have to say that this strap is the best money I’ve ever spent on an accessory. Despite the couple of niggles it makes carrying a heavy camera almost effortless. It’s comfortable to wear and the camera is as easy to lift to my eye as when I was carrying it in my hand. Strat or Les Paul?** A: That's a little bit outside the box lol. These are designed for camera equipment, tripods etc. I use mine on a full frame camera which is at least a couple of Kilos and a tripod thats probably 3kg. However they are rated up to 200lbs or 90kg so are pretty strong. Based on that I would have said they would manage these and are really easy to attach and detach from any strap. The slide strap they can attach to is also pretty strong and adjustable so you can have it able to slide on your shoulder or be grippy so it doesn't move. Hope that helps. Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love these straps *by S***N on 11 December 2020* This is my second time to purchase a Slide strap. My old one is still in excellent condition, I got another for my second camera. This has to be the best strap I've ever owned. It's comfortable and great for shooting events where I'm carrying my gear around a lot but need to look smart and be quickly ready to shoot. The anchor points make it quick and easy to get rid of the strap when not needed or change the configuration if I need to. The quick length adjustment is also an excellent feature as I find I need to change lengths quite often depending on the situation, carrying two cameras or putting on a coat to go shoot outside and then coat off again to inside. What bothers me on the new version of the strap is that they no longer include an Arca Swiss plate like they did before. The new little plate is useless for me. First of all it can only be fastened on with an Allen key (included) which is something that I'll have forgotten, lost or be unable to find when I'm quickly trying to get the thing off. Second, for someone like me who is often putting my rig on a monopod or tripod at events I don't have time to take this stupid thing off and on (especially with an Allen key) to put an Arca Swiss plate on. So my Slide plate has gone into a drawer never to be seen again and replaced with an Arca Swiss plate. Another gripe is that it you want a Capture Arca Swiss compatible plate like before you have to buy it separately now and it's not cheap. Not only that the new one is not compatible with my old Capture version 2. Did they do this to force me to upgrade to the expensive Capture version 3? You'll also need to keep a close eye on your anchor points. Check them regularly for signs of wear, if one broke it could be an expensive disaster. They do last a reasonable length of time and aren't too expensive to replace. So it's an expensive strap and they've removed a useful component but I still think it's the best strap out there.
