Review: The Best Resource for Lupus Patients - This the best lupus resource. The book is written for patients by a doctor who researches and has specialized in treating lupus patients for decades. He tells you what lupus is, how it's diagnosed, all medical treatment options, depending on the level of your inflammation and organs impacted, the labs you must get regularly, how to have a productive conversation with your rheumatologist, the importance of working with a dermatologist, as lupus affects the skin, the one medication all lupus patients should be taking to lower your disease state, and he tells you the best way to eat to ruduce your levels of inflammation and put your lupus in remission. Dr. Thomas has even shared in his regular emails or in this book that he has female patients in their nineties, with lupus, who have followed all of his advice, which is contained in this book. The one recommendation that did not work for me was eating yogurt every day. It cause me severe flares and puffiness in my face. One of the very best pieces of information I gained from this book is taking an 81mg aspirin daily. I started doing that this week and I have been sleeping like a baby for the first time in decades. When I looked this up online it turns out inflammation comes from sleep loss and sleep loss causes inflammation, so when you put the inflammation out your body can rest and sleep deeply.

The Most important book a person with Lupus and other autoimmune NEEDS!!
When I was diagnosed with Lupus 7 years ago this is the first book I bought. The first edition and I bought it for my Primary Doctor too. Now that the second edition came out I was first in line for this too. I got one for my Doctor and Daughter also. This is the Lupus bible. It tells all about tests, symptoms and treatments in an easy to read format from the doctor we all wish was our Doc :) I just finish Cytoxan and it helped soooo very much for my Lupus Cerebritus. I read about it in the first edition. This edition has all the NEW treatments and discoveries they have made towards autoimmune treatment. Just open it up and see what that test you just had means, The possible new treatments. This is the book you or your loved ones need. Buy it for your Doctor too. Thank you so much Dr Thomas!!

A Great Resource for lupus patients!
I have the first edition and the second addition comes with updates with new lupus medication informations, and it also comes with editing on each chapter by various top leading lupus doctors. The first edition was great and the second edition is greater with so much new edition! I love it! Here is a photo of my second edition with all the interesting points marked. This is a must haves for lupus patients and other autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome, etc. It is so resourceful covering various topics from reasons, symptoms, meaning of the tests, various involved organs, medication information, and even the reason for the pain that patients experience. I’ve been suffering from lupus for 37 years, and seriously, all the problems I experienced are addressed in this book. One will experience aha moment when one delves into it. I am not kidding, you can find most of the answers in this book! I also would like to thank Dr Thomas for his care and passion for the patients. Each chapter is so well written that it is so approachable, engaging, and it is so practical for us patients. I can see that Dr Thomas really looked into each symptom and issue through a magnifying glass to address them and he carefully listens to the patients for their needs and what they are going through. I can totally relate to the topics and his suggestions when I read the book. Thank you so very much, Dr Thomas for writing Lupus Encyclopedia and educating us! You changed our lives! We love you!

This book has pretty much everything you need to know that's written in a language most people can understand. It gives you plenty of real world examples so that you can visualize what they're talking about. Even though it's primarily about Lupus, it does briefly touch on other types of auto-immune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS and more. It explains why there is often a doctor discrepancy when it comes to getting a diagnosis, as well as why it can be tricky to diagnose period. As the medical community draws closer to finding answers, more questions get asked and this book explains all that. Very insightful and likely the only book you'll ever need on the subject.
