Gates 36220 DriveAlign Belt Drive Idler/Tensioner Pulley

Used it on an ls engine. Went on and worked with no issues

I like and dislike because I ordered 2 but I only got 1

Part was suppose to fit a 2015 Honda Accord. Does NOT fit. Wrong part!

Quality seams to be very good. Please note you LS1 Firebird owners, these are fatter than originals. You use two of these for your AC belt, one idler, one tension. For the idler only, you need one 3/16" washer behind it so it doesn't meet edges with the mount. Other than that these are great and so far they do their job.

The belt pulleys on my 98 TransAm started to squeal after 132000 miles. Its interesting to know that the A/C belt tensioner uses the same pulley as the idler pulley on my TransAm. Saved a lot of money not having to replace the whole belt tensioner assembly. I just ordered two of these pulleys. Once installed, the squeal was gone.

Wider than the stock plastic pulley. Have to use the stock spacer behind the pulley on the original tensioner. Does sometimes contact, but what I did, if you buy two pulleys - install the one on the tensioner first. I was able to get one to not rub by turning it around. If worse comes to worse you can lightly belt sand the one side to clearance it. Otherwise it was about the only choice I could find without replacing the whole tensioner.

Great pulley, the original on the car was plastic and this one is steel.
