Does the remote have a volume control?

No, it does skip songs, pause and play.

People keep saying this broke. Did you try the warranty?

They refused to honor the warranty, even though I returned the item to them, paying my own postage and even providing a photo of receipt from the post office that they needed to process the warranty request. I would beware of this company; they have poor customer service, and in my experience, do not stand behind their products.

Are they ideal for working out? Sweat proof?

These headphones are not protected from moisture.
