Ernie Ball Power Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings - 11-48 Gauge

Good price and good strings.

Although these are definitely heavier gauge strings and are therefore thicker, I don't feel as though that thickness affects my ability to bend and pull off the way I need to. For fast and furious lead work, especially solos, you may find that these do hinder you slightly however, I'd recommend strengthening your fingers as opposed to amending your gauge if possible, especially if this gauge is the most appropriate for your musical style. For a rock, blues or a metal sound I personally find them ideal and must note that especially when chugging as opposed to riffing these are second to none. The sound they produce is crystal clear with very little to no unnecessary humming or feedback. The life term on these is pretty impressive too and I've found that I usually snap them before they wear out. I also find these are less prone to snap under heavy use than other same gauge strings on the market. Ernie Ball is the one for me personally... I use different gauge strings on different guitars to achieve a different sound but this isn't as necessary as with others as they really are so flexible and dynamic, although a more powerful sound is definitely clear when using Power Slinky. I'm never disappointed and genuinely love everything about this product and brand, from the packaging to the immaculate performance.

I love this gauge, this brand. They last, they tune well and hold their tuning. Incredibly adaptable strings for all types of music.

I've been playing the guitar for 7-8 years and all that time I've been using extra light strings. I finally decided to upgrade to thicker strings because I felt it in my playing and I saw a video online that said that beginners should start off with light strings then move up as they get more experienced. It was great using it, I loved the feel and the sound, I just had to get a little use to it. One thing though is if you experiment a lot with different tuning and frequently detune your strings it'll will snap. Thats what happened to me. It seems the thicker the strings, the less tolerance it has for frequent detuning. Other that that these string are great and I would definitely recommend them to others

Great quality as always from ernie ball. I've never tried these strings before, i typically tend to use the ernie ball hybrid slinkies. The power slinkies are good, and sound great, mostly when playing on a clean amp setting or with a mild overdrive. With lots of distortion (i use a Boss DS-1) you can get a wicked stoner-rock sound that's more pronounced with these strings, they do pack a punch. I guess that's expected, thicker strings, darker, deeper tones. The one thing i'm not too keen on is that they are (obviously) harder to bend on the g/b strings, being thicker than the standard gauge. I personally prefer playing with hybrid slinkies, as they give a combination of deeper tones on the bass strings, while also making it easier to bend the g/b/e strings, which are thinner than standard. I'm in no rush to restring my guitar yet, and will probably keep these power slinkies on it for a while. 5/5

As expected

These are excellent strings, always my choice for a guitar tuned to Concert Pitch. Always try to use the same gauge strings when changing them, it's always good to experiment with different gauges for different tunings, but bear in mind the tension on the neck will differ with different gauges and means a truss rod adjustment will be required each time you change gauges. That said, I'm a Metal player and, for Concert Pitch tunings, these are perfect. I use them with Fast Fret, and these strings will retain their bright sound and feel smooth and fast for a good few months, depending on how often you play, of course. Definitely recommended.
