Incredible travel tripod - super light and compact
I own the Benro TMA38CL Mach3 Carbon tripod and was looking for something more compact and lighter when travelling or hiking. Positives Super lightweight, Great twist lock mechanism (smooth and no need to twist for ages to tighten) - Great for throwing in check in luggage when travelling abroad. - Great for strapping to backpack when going on a hike (So light and small) Negatives Ball head supplied with tripod is basic and one tension switch to control all movement but this is fine for this price > 100£ for a CF travel tripod. Wasn't expecting miracles. The bottom leg section is very thin and prone to flexing. Id recommend not to use it on unstable ground and instead work lower to the ground or extend the centre column slightly. Overall very impressed with this tripod. Once adapted with a sturdier ball head (i use the Benro B2) It holds its own. If you are looking a travel tripod - BUY THIS.

Hard to beat at this price!
Light, yet strong, camera tripod; well made, versatile set of features, and at a superb price, especially for carbon fibre. Packs down into a suitably compact size for travel, in the supplied drawstring bag. Articulation of the legs is a useful feature. A great competitor for my heavier (and bulkier) Manfrotto!

Light and cheap for carbon but with compromises
You're probably thinking about buying this because it's very light in weight and yet relatively cheap. That's why I bought it. It's not quite 'feather-light' but it's so light that you'll hardly notice it if you have it around your neck all day or attached to a backpack. The carbon fibre legs look and feel quite cool too. Carbon fibre! Now you're a pro. And actually, it's fine. It's easy and quick to set up, and comes with a small and slim quick-release plate to screw into your camera and leave on while you're shooting. There's a bubble level on the top of the ball head but it's obscured when you put the camera on it so is a bit useless. I use my camera's level meter instead. I find the lever that locks the ball head in place quite good. No problems with my Olympus E-M1 and 12–100 zoom, which is a moderately heavy combo. No creep. And you can splay the legs right out to get low. At full height it's fine unless you're tall. The tripod takes a while to settle down when you press the shutter, especially with the centre column raised. I'd say it's really pretty wobbly. But it's okay if you use a long self-timer or some kind of remote release. What I don't like about the ball head is that rotation and angle are both handled by one lever, so it's no good for panoramas and useless for video. There's a panorama angle guide on the ball head but I don't know why it's there really. It comes with a reasonable bag with rope straps. Although it's very slim, and of course light, it's still quite long. But you can remove the ball head easily to make it shorter for packing. Really, you'll buy this if you want carbon fibre on a budget. Its weight/price ratio is excellent. You could fit a better ball head to make it more usable if you feel the need. My other (cheaper) tripod is a K+F Concept, and it's in almost every way a better tripod. But it weighs twice as much. The Benro's light weight makes the compromise more or less acceptable.

Ideal for what I do.
This is a very well made tripod and very, very lightweight. With a light weight loading it is very good and sufficiently stable. It is ideal for what I do (using it with an Opticron MM3 50 lightweight spotting scope and fits nicely into the tripod holder on my backpack. A bargain at the price.

Quality and ease of use are second to none.
My favourite tripod. Lightweight and easy to carry whilst being quick to setup and sturdy as well. Using the camera and positioning controls is fast also. A pleasure to use.

So so
Decent enough to get you out of a scrape. But the ballhead can't take 70-200 f2.8 in portrait mode.nit just loosens. So would change the head on this

Carbon fibre tripod at aluminium price
I need a tripod for field work but due to my age wanted as little weight as possible, and wasn't willing to pay the high price demanded by some makers for carbon fibre. The Benro carbon fibre tripod is light in weight, light in price and full of quality. Extremely good value for money.

Great lightweight Tripod for hillwalking.
Excellent product. Super light weight and very sturdy, quick and simple to adjust. Twist locks on the legs only require a few degrees of movement so all 3 can be locked or unlocked at the same time making it very quick to deploy or put away. Ball head is very smooth and locks instantly. Used with Olympus OM-D E-M1 and a variety of lenses.

I saw one of these in a store and thought the price must have been mis-marked; no way could there be a Benro CF tripod that inexpensive! I didn't buy it then, but later purchased through Amazon and I could not be happier. I've used a full size Benro for a few years and love it, but wanted something smaller for travel as airlines seem to get more difficult each day with weight and size. Like other Benro models, the build quality is outstanding, and all the mechanisms work with smoothness and precision. The ball head is great for photography and allows quick and accurate positioning of the camera (but other head choices would be better for video). I've found that I much prefer the circular leg clamps used by Benro over lever clamps used on some manufacturers - you can unlock all three clamps on a leg with one hand and one quick motion. The tripod folds compactly and fits nicely inside a carryon or I can strap it onto the side of my small camera day pack. Although I really like my full size Benro, I imagine it will end up staying in the closet and I'll take this little one instead for occasional excursions. The best tripod is the one that you have with you, and this travel model is much more likely to be at hand. Overall, it's a well built, low weight, compact tripod perfect for those who travel or want something light but don't want to give up the build quality and operation of a much more expensive model.
