Quality product , sturdy and solid and if used properly should last a long time. I have used a lot of wood handled tools and ran a lot of crews using wood handles 90 percent of broken handles I've seen were from abusing the tool . They are not prybars ! The fork worked very well for turning my garden this spring and I expect a long life for the fork . I would recommend this product.

The fork is a bit on the short side, but once you get used to it, it’s actually quite easy to maneuver. The handle is made of sturdy, hard wood. The fork itself is strong and can probably take a bit of abuse, though it may bend over time if you’re using it to dig at rocks and such. It’s also quite useful for turning compost, picking up mulch, and weeding.

UPDATE--Bought on 12/10/2015 w/4 star but today the fork broke off in light soil I "punch" holes for ironite around Sago palms in my front and back yards. I have used this product for years and not had problems. I hope I just bought a runt in the litter but very disappointed how easy the brake happened since rarely used in winter. I bought my first Truper spading fork some 10 plus years ago. I use the heavy duty forks to "open up" my front beds and back yard flower beds in spring. In early summer I use the forks to spear deep holes around drip line of my trees; azaleas; jasmine and my 40 year old sago's planted around my home to place ironite and small amounts of fertilizer. This way is much cheaper than buying the fertilizer blocks sold for the same purpose and use a smaller amount several times a year. The Truper tough handle is great when rain quickly falls and I forgot where propped up the the spading fork. The top handle does make a great perch for the birds and those pesky furry tail tree rodents when I do forget in the yard when I come in for a rest. One of my best garden shed Also, the price is good vs. the big box home and outdoor retailers. Now if I can get my 2 cf garden mulch-------

Really heavy duty and high quality. I use it to clean out my barn and it is not ‘light work’. Very impressed and pleased.

I like the spading fork because it's short and easy to use in my compost bin for mixing it

This fork is great. Seems well made and sturdy. I used it to dig up and divide some perennials which have a very dense root structure. It was so easy.
