9" Honing Steel

good quality and works well

I researched this honing rod and found that it is highly rated and recommended for carbon steel knives. I've been a knife sharpener for my father since I was 9 years old. He used fillet blades in his work. I know a good honing rod when I use it. I've my own knives and this sharpened them amazingly well. I've carbon and stainless alloy steel knives, this got them extremely sharp and is a superior rod. Highly recommended for kitchen to outdoor knives and carbon to stainless steel alloy knives. Awesome product!!

I'm very much new to quality knives and their care. This was very intuitive to use, and it does its job well. I use my knife fairly lightly compared to a true enthusiast, so I can't speak to long-term or heavy duty use. However, for a casual home cook that likes nice stuff, this is great.

This is replacing the Wusthof I have been using for 38 years. It was from my grandparents' home and who knows how long they had been using it before I received it. The knives' blades are sharpened with several quick strokes across their lengths on both sides of the blades. It's the small grooves that are scored into the steel that sharpen the knives. Unless you keep an electric knife sharpener on your kitchen counter, this is the only fast way I know of to handily sharpen the blades before using them. The quality of Wusthof is important to me. If it is to you, too, this sharpening steel tool is a good choice.

Wanted a smaller honing steel that behaved like a full-sized honing steel. This 9" with striations does a great job straightening out blade and removing errant steel particles from knives. After correct use, knives clearly cut better. Can use weekly to keep blades in upright position. Not a substitute for sharpening stones from Arkansas, but will keep knives in decent shape between sharpenings, every 3-4 months. Thank you.

I've had this for a while now. It is good quality and does a nice job freshening up knife edges.

Our expensive Wusthof knives were getting dulled after several months of use. Originally, we want to try electric sharpener, but after reading several reviews on the internet, we were concerned about damaging our knives. We decided to try the honing steel first and it worked. It improved the dullness of our Wusthof knives and it is the cheapest option.

Excelent product very nice quality

Having previously relied on a block knife sharpener and been warned against further regular use based on the risk of potentially damaging my knives, I did a little research into sharpening steels. Based on other reviews and articles the Wusthof Dreizack seemed to offer the best blend of value and effectiveness and the product has not disappointed. Never having used a steel before I am surprised at how easy it has been to restore the edge to my knives with little effort. The handle is easy to grip and solidly attached to the steel. As such, I can heartily recommend this product and it's encouraging to see others who have had prolonged use from their steel.
