Very nice for a sewer or crafter
I wanted a REAL antique but not willing to pay the price. This is sturdy and lovely. The clip is tight for a good hold and the clamp is solid

Beautiful and functional
This is awesome! Finally, you can get that third hand ✋🏽🤚🏽👋🏼you’ve always needed when hand stitching, working on macrame, etc. Beautifully detailed. STRONG hold💪🏼. As you can see, this little birdie chomped down hard on my wooden ring. Next time, I will use a scrap of felt around wood projects. Had no issue with tightness of the clamp. It made a mark on another table I used it on, so now, I use a scrap of felt underneath the part of the clamp that contacts the table surface. I love this little strong, cute and helpful birdie!❤️❤️

Better than I ever thought!
This sewing bird is better than I ever imagined! Attractive replica that is probably more sturdy than an actual antique, which I thought about buying at one point-since I like antiques. All edges are smooth. Therefore, my thread and fabric does not get caught or snagged. The bird's beak has a nice firm grip that enables me to sew more accurately and quickly. I've been wanting one of these "third hands", as they are sometimes called for over 50 years. Now I can't figure out why I took so long in buying one.

Helpful hand!
I use it to help me braid yarn as well as hold other things I need 3 hands to do! The pincushion is basically useless as it's much too hard and you can't stick pins in straight but you can get them in sideways. Another review said they unstuffed it and restuffed with stuffing. I didn't purchase it for the pincushion so I just stick them in sideways! It's a really heavy duty piece and screws onto my sewing table perfectly! It looks delightful as well as being functional! I'm very happy with my purchase!! Took off 1 star for the useless pincushion. Arrived quickly and packaged well!

Excellent quality reproduction sewing bird (aka ‘third hand’)
I have used a similar reproduction for years. It has greatly improved the quality of my hand-sewing. The price of this one is very good, and the build quality is very nice. The clip holds fabric well. (If it does start to slip, then I fold the fabric over. That usually works.)

Amazing little third hand for those that love the Victorian Aesthetic
Who wouldn't love a little bird helper? If you're looking for something like this, surely you know what it is. And this is a beautiful, sturdy replica of a very popular sewing item! I love my little bird, and they've already helped me to sew at least one Victorian corset on my antique sewing machine. If that's the cozy, vintage, cottagecore vibe you're looking for in your life - this bird is the word.

I did not expect to fall in love with this sewing bird. My bias against modern reproductions was strong and yet, I could not afford an antique and this was on sale... A moment of weakness and I bought it. I am so happy I did. About a year ago, I took up hand sewing as mindful meditation and a more portable way to make and mend clothing. The problem is, arthritis in my hands made handling the cloth and the needle at the same time painful and difficult. I very nearly had to give it up. Until, that is, my sewing bird arrived. The bird has two clamps. The first clamps to the table with a twisty c-clamp kind of thing. The second clamp holds the fabric and is activated by pressing on the tail. The beak opens, you put the cloth in, let go the tail, and the beak closes. Both clamps have a strong grasp. The construction is solid brass and looks better in person than it does in the product photo (which is kind of distorted compared to the real thing). The designs are more detailed than I expected. I like the Victorian feel and look to this. The pincushion has a vibrant red velvet material that feels synthetic. The cushion is stiff if I try to jab a pin it it, but works well with a slow and steady pressure. This bird is probably best for people who sew towards themselves like they often did in Victorian and Edwardian sewing manuals.

I don't know what this is made of, but it can't be metal. It's definitely not brass. I attached it to my sewing bench and it simply snapped!
