AncestryDNA is interesting and the results were detailed, giving a good overview of my heritage and potential relatives. The testing process itself was simple, and the kit was easy to use. My main issue was the wait — it took much longer than I expected to get the results, which was a bit frustrating. Overall, it’s a useful service, but the slow turnaround left me feeling a little underwhelmed.

I purchased two of these DNA kits as Christmas gifts at £95 each, and unfortunately the experience has been very disappointing. The testing process itself was straightforward, but the results we received felt extremely limited and lacking in meaningful detail. Most of the information provided was quite basic, and much of what might be considered more useful or in-depth appears to be locked behind an additional paid subscription. Even then, it’s not entirely clear what extra value the subscription actually provides. Given the price point, I expected far more insight without needing to commit to ongoing monthly fees. As it stands, the initial results alone do not feel sufficient to justify the cost. This product may be of interest to those who are willing to pay for continued access and explore the platform further, but based on my experience, I would not personally recommend it at this price.

Well, what other product could get that kind of headline. Back to that grannies brother, found I had a connection to a woman that had ZERO connection to my family, investigated her family tree and saw no connection, until...... I realised that at one point her mother lived in Greenwich. Found out that the child was born two years before she married another guy, in all she had three marriages. Sadly the daughter who uploaded her DNA had already passed away by the time I saw the link. Re by grannies brother, he died in the 1930's and may never had known of his child. Well, if you take one of these tests, heaven knows what you may find out (and they do warn you). Fantastic test though, the wonders of science.
