Huy Fong Foods Sambal Oelek Ground Fresh Chili Paste, 18 Ounce

This is so delicious! I learned about this because it's made by the people who make Sriracha sauce. But, I love this even more than Sriracha! I'm not sure why it's so delicious, besides that it's darker, maybe a little sweeter, and has some seeds. But, too me, that's probably what makes it delicious. I love the chili seeds in this sauce, and I think that's one of the reasons why it's so delicious. Now, don't get me wrong. I love Sriracha. For years, I thought it was the most delicious condiment in the world. But, that was before I realized that Huy Fong makes other things, and I tried this out. Now I put it on everything. It's so awesome! You really have to taste this. I've been using Huy Fong's Sambal Oelek sauce in recipes since I first heard about it, years ago. It's super tasty, nice and spicy, great with shrimp and veggies. By mistake, I bought another brand a few months ago, and it was bland and tasteless! When I found this brand available on Amazon, I was thrilled. Won't buy any other brand, ever again.

I was out of sambal olek and sriracha and was looking to buy more. I couldn't find it at the local grocery store so I went looking on Amazon. Of course, they had it but the price was outrageous. After reading up a bit I now know why - a chili shortage due to a bad growing season in Mexico. So, because of supply and demand, price of both products went into the stratosphere. I bought it anyway because I could afford it and I really like the flavor. Hopefully this year they'll have a better growing season and the price will be more reasonable. If you want it now (Spring 2023) buy it while you can find it, otherwise wait until next year and hope the price will come down and will be in the grocery stores again.

If you have tried their chili garlic sauce you'll most likely enjoy this as well. This spicy treat has a bit more of a tangy flavor from the vinegar than their garlic version, but it is subtle and nothing like Tabasco. It is a great added to pasta, hot dogs, soups or just about anything else you would want add a little "kick". As for the heat level, I would give it a 4 out of 10. 10 being the hottest (like ghost peppers or insane concentrated sauces) 1 being black pepper not much of anything. Please note, that I can eat some of the spiciest foods without any trouble and heat level opinions will very greatly. If you have no problem with Tabasco sauce heat levels, you'll have no problem enjoying this product as well. Please know that this taste nothing like Tabasco. I am only using at as reference for heat levels.

WTF!!! This contains more sodium metabisulfite than xanthan gum. How are they allow to sell this stuff as food?

My first experience with Sambal Oelek Sauce was at a local Chinese Restaurant called " Parallel China Express " . Later I noticed it in a grocery store and Walmart . It's a wonderful basic condiment and goes well with many foods . Not too hot and a great flavor . I also like the " Only in America " success story of the company's owner .

Fast shipping. Very flavorful. Adds new flavor to many of my dishes. Made sweet Chili sauce with it and it was better than the store. Added to taco and enchiladas so much better
