It contentedly stops playing. I don't think it has enough memory for that. Does fine with pictures. **Q: Why does it shut down and not hold power** A: According to the owners manual it has an automatic shut down after so many minutes so it will save your battery life **Q: Does this viewer have storage to download images/video and then replace the card in the trail camera?** A: No it does not have internal storage. You need 2 cards for that. Also the images are on the screen aren't very clear. I absolutely love this. We have a game cam that has an SD card and this is much easier for quick viewing of the game cam SD card. I have also made a photo album and add pictures to it regularly. The card viewer supports up to a 32 gb card. We have used it any time we wanted to view pictures. It is used every few days. The batteries were put in at Christmas and it is the end of March and the battery life is still going strong. So it does not seem to use a lot of power. I have not tried playing videos so I am not sure how much quicker that would drain the battery. I would definitely purchase this in the future and have already recommended it to several other people. This card viewer has a touch screen. You can purchase one without the touch screen. Note that there are two that are alike with the only difference being the touch screen. One this one you can either use the touch screen or you can forward through the pictures using the buttons to the right side. I like that you can pinch the screen with your fingers and zoom in on pictures. The device also shows pictures in full color. The screen seems small reading the description but is plenty large enough to be able to view and enjoy pictures. I like that this is portable, small in size, and doesn't take up a lot of space.
