yes it does have a battery. i have bought several of these watches for my wife they don't hold up very long if you are lucky you might get a year or so out of them.

What's the band's length from tip to tip?

11 inches...however, usable length is 9 1/2 inches.

What do they mean by a non standard battery

I have this watch, and it has a regular watch battery you can purchase at Target or CVS, Walmart . No “special “ battery.
