I have had this over a year in Wisconsin. Many days well over 100F in summer and days below -30 F in winter (-50 with windchill a few times). Door held up well with no issues. A full year later and the normal AA battery is still at 33%. Does a great job. Easy to install too. Only annoying bit is every time I use the app it has updated and I need to log in again.

I've had this coop door for almost 2 years now and its still running strong. I'ts been through all 4 seasons with temperatures over 100 and freezing temperatures below 0, wind, rain, snow, ice, leaves. It still works. It has never closed on one of my girls and hurt any of them. You do need to clean it every now and then. The sensor can get dirty and not work as well and the door sometimes doesn't close all the way because of dirt stuck in the bottom from chickens going in and out all day long. Cleaning is easy, just wash out the dirt that gets stuck in the bottom and wipe down the sensor a few times a year. I like this product enough that I'm buying another one to put on the other side of my coop. My only recommendation would be that when you attach the door to your coop be sure to have a little roof cover over it to protect from the elements. When it got below freezing here ice accumumulated on the door and it got a little stuck, but it never broke!

May 2022 Update: After using this door for almost a year now, we still love it! The only issue we've had is in the winter when it would rain and then get really cold soon thereafter, the door to be a bit frozen and could not open. I like that the door would try to open, then stop. It reassures me that it won't break so easily! Our idea going forward for this winter is to create a bit more of an overhang to keep more moisture away from the door. All we had to do was just open our coop's side door to let the crew out. Regardless, we love this door and it makes life so much easier for us! Loving this door! Installed easily. We watched the installation video before attempting. We had a small saw that we could use to cut out the hole and drills/screwdriver, etc. So I would recommend watching the install video before buying to make sure you have the tools you need to install. It works great and we've had zero issues so far with opening and closing via the factory default settings. The chickens are happy and we are too! It has rained several times, heavy rains, no weather related issues noted. The price is a bit high but it's lower than most automatic doors. At first I chose this door due to that fact, however, I have found that I prefer the way this door looks along with the mechanism for opening and closing as compared to the other automatic doors. I make sure to keep an eye on the door by checking for any debris in the track. The bottom of the door has a very tiny gap for debris to fall through on it's own, so I haven't had anything get stuck but I just want to maintain it well so it lasts as long as possible.

The product works better in the updated version. I first purchased mine in May 2025, then purchased another one in August 2025. The second one is the "updated version" with the Bluetooth connectivity. The first one is programmed through a series of flashing lights. So...I followed the directions very carefully to program the first one and it would take 3 or 4 attempts and would eventually work. I live in an area where I have to manually program and over time it has become harder and harder to have it accept the flashing light codes. I am currently having to manually open and close that particular coop because it will not program at all. So I reached out to customer service and after a few days they emailed me back the same instructions as on the app; to which I replied, "I have been following all those instructions from day one and they don't work, could you at least offer me a discount on the upgraded motor?" Their response: Nothing! So make sure you purchase the updated, Bluetooth version to avoid this frustration, because an upgraded motor is costs $109. At that point you might as well give them twice the money for one unit

This has worked very well for our coop, except a few days when it's been cold and gotten stuck. The installation was easy, the app is okay (they are improving it now) and the range we can open and close is decent. My mom's (same company different model) has a button on it to open and close it manually (without the app) and I wish this one had that...so 4 stars.

I wanted to wait a few months before writing a review since others were having issues after a few months. I, too encountered issues recently. It worked wonderfully as expected until recently I ordered in April, it is now October and the unit stopped working. Prior to it dying, programming the door to open with a delay of 120 min would erase after a day and by default it would open at sunrise. When it died, no lights when I would press the button, and it would not open/close automatically or manually with the button. I installed new batteries and it still didn't work. I emailed the company and they responded within hours with troubleshooting steps and requests for photos of the units. I started with their troubleshooting steps and the issue was SOLVED with step #3 (copied from their email): The most common problem is incorrect installation (to strong installation). Maybe you overtighten screws, and the rails of the door are crushed. LOOSEN all screws a little and it should be ok. Just release some pressure from the door. Honestly I did not think that was going to work... BUT IT DID! During instructions, I assumed the screws could not be tight so it didn't squish the door and it couldn't open. However, the screws on the motor housing ALSO must be loose. Something about the motor pressure against the door. The reason why I think this occurred months after I installed it is because it's starting to be cool/fall now. Thermally, I believe the tightness increased which caused issues with the motor! We'll see if the issue with the programming a delayed start continues and if so, I'll update with the fix if there is one. Otherwise, its good to go and you can't beat the customer service! They asked for photos and videos of the issue! I really appreciate them so much!

This door and company is badass. Easy to install, works without fail, and is easy to program and set up. Other doors get a few shavings in the opening and don't work or re-open leaving chickens unsafe. This door is programmable so it will try to close, if it feels some resistance for any reason whether it's junk or a chicken, it will re open for around 10 seconds, then it ALWAYS closes again. Finally some guaranteed safe chickens! You can program to do sunrise and sunset according to your GPS location, a time of day for open and shut, set your open delay or close delay based on any of these times, etc. The programming is easy with their app and instructions and once set doesn't require any connection to any other devices. You can also set a "always shut" mode so no matter what it will fully close. Other doors I have tried try to shut, feel a little resistance, and open again. I had to clean and close it every night, totally defeating the purpose of an automatic door. The door is also a seriously tough metal along with the frame, and even with some mud getting stuck in the bottom over a few weeks in the winter it still shuts safe enough to prevent a weasel. I still clean out the groove, but once every few weeks instead of every day! The motor and gears seem really strong too. Customer support also got back to me super quick about an installation question. 10/10! Get this so your chickens are safe!!

Worked for about 6 months. Now the door doesn’t close the whole way and there are no obstructions. The batteries die within weeks. I hate that you cannot open and close the door from the app. And a hate that you have to reprogram the entire door to switch the time it opens and closes.

Tengo a precisare che l'ho montato solamente da una settimana. L'ho controllato e ho visto che la regolazione di fabbrica con il sensore di luce va benissimo perchè le galline sono già a dormire da almeno mezz'ora quando si chiude la porta per cui non ho effettuato la regolazione oraria come dal sito. Il materiale mi sembra ottimo e durevole. Forse unico neo il prezzo un pò alto, ma se mantiene le aspettative sono soldi ben spesi perchè evita tante levatacce e la costante presenza per aprirle e chiuderle tutti i giorni. in questo modo insieme all'acquisto di un dispenser per mangime e ad un distributore di acqua conto di andar via a cuor leggero anche per brevi vacanze.

Llevo casi 4 años usándola. Los materiales son resistentes y duraderos. Las pilas duran más de un año La posibilidades de programación están muy bien combinando reloj y luz ambiente. Solo animar al fabricante a poner una versión con wifi en el mercado. Entonces le daría 6 estrellas

Bonjour, j'ai acheté cette porte et elle fonctionne très bien depuis juin (avec le même jeu de piles)... Je l'ai placée à l'entrée de l'enclos du poulailler, ce qui permet aux poules de sortir la journée et d'être protégées des prédateurs la nuit... De plus, il existe des pièces de rechange si votre porte tombe en panne... Bien mieux que chez OMLET où malheureusement, si votre porte tombe en panne (boitier de commande ou circuit imprimé défectueux ou fonctionnant mal), il faut en racheter une nouvelle... Je recommande donc cette porte RUN-CHICKEN...

An essential to every chicken owner. Very easy to install and set up. It opens and closes according to sunrise/sunset. The company, run-chicken have been amazing- even after several months they were on hand 24/7 to assist with minor technical issues which were resolved very quickly. Highly commended customer service and great product. A must buy.
