PGX Offset Golf Driver

I've owned and used this club for over a year now, and straight off the bat, this club isn't going to win any longest drive competitions or beauty contests. But this is probably the best bang for your buck beginner driver on the market. It's cheap, it's pretty forgiving, and no beginner is going to notice much of a difference in distance compared to better clubs. The good: It's super cheap and comes with a headcover. The driver itself is pretty forgiving, and the offset gives the club head enough time to come around and help with slices, but it's not magic... slices can still happen. But on the course, this thing has been hitting straight as an arrow for me more often than not. I drive as far or farther than others I play with, but less than the better players with expensive drivers. For the price, this a great place to start your first set of clubs. The not so good: The matte finish scratches pretty easily, which doesn't affect performance but is a bummer. The feel is okay, but I really don't like the sound it makes on contact... Just sounds kinda tinny. The grip is a cheap rubber...it works but it was definitely a coat saver. Overall, this is clearly a budget club, but a great one. Works well, especially for beginners. It can't really compete with expensive drivers, but it's not meant to. Great for a first driver while you work out the kinks in your game. Upgrade once you up your skills and feel dedicated enough to drop big cash on a single club.

I bought this club last season. I was completely new the game and could barely hit the ball. After putting in time at the range and a bunch of rounds of golf I can finally say I’m finding the fairway much more often this year. The offset will help a slice, but more often than not a slice is user error not a club. This season I noticed a slight crack where the club head meets the shaft. I dont think it’s effected my drive and I’ll use the club till it breaks. The club is well worth the money for a beginner. Im driving consistently 150-170 yards. I still consider myself a beginner. I would recommend this club to anyone just starting out and not willing to commit to a more expensive driver. I’m honestly considering buying it again, because I’m unwilling to commit to a $300+ driver. A club like that would probably allow for longer drives and faster club speed, but I’m a weekend golfer and I’m still having fun learning the game and shooting a 90 through 18 holes.

To give you my background, I'm turning 50 next month, considerably athletic, and restarted golfing 3 months ago after 10 years of break. Previously, I was never serious about golf and I kept slicing with my old 9.5 deg stiff driver. This time I am serious about getting better at golf and practiced regularly with some good Youtube lessons and thought I would try out this to fix my slices. After 3-4 weeks of practices at the driving range with this driver, I was able to hit 240-260 yards straight shots consistently and my score dropped from 105 to low 90's instantly. After another 2-3 weeks I sort of figured out how to deliver my body power to the ball (lagging, throwing the driver at the right point, etc.) and it increased 30 yards easily and I was able to fly my balls 270-300 yards for about 10 straight balls then this poor thing gave up in its shaft near the head. I guess this driver is not for a power hitter. Overall, I enjoyed swinging this driver for the last 5 weeks, was able to fix my slices (with correction of my swing), drove over 90% in the fairways, broke 100 for the first time, and about to break 90 (my short games are not there yet). I switched to my old drive yesterday (without practice), and about 50% was not in the fairway (mostly straight pushes and one slice), Since I'm still struggling with my old driver I may try this driver out again and remember to swing easy. Also, unfortunately, about 2 weeks passed for one warranty.

Ok, so let's start by saying it's not bad for the price. I was playing an old Taylor Made from the mid 90s and I couldnt hit it for crap. This kept me in the fairway (most times) and was consistent at around 225 yards. For $50 it's good, but not great. Does it help with slice...I guess so. I still managed to slice, and pull a few but more were straight than not. I bought this because I am a mediocre (at best) golfer and didnt want to spend the money on a name brand. So I figured at $50 I couldnt lose. Drawbacks- its soft. I noticed a dent on bottom from a few mis-hits. It sounds awful. Low distance. Pros- Great value. Hits pretty straight unless you have major mechanical issues. Shaft and grip are nice and overall good weight and feel.

Well its been 3 months since I bought it and I have been using it at least once a week. I must say that it really helped eliminate my slice. Now, due to the face being straight and with a bit of loft the ball never travels too far. By this I mean that I am being almost always out-driven by my mates for around 30 yards, but they can go all over the place and my ball is always in the center of the fairway. Due to this loft my ball goes always very high, reducing with this, my yardage, but I rather go a few yards shorter than playing like them off the woods because they go crooked. So far, I am really happy I invested so little money for such a nice club. My score has gone down from, and I am a bit embarrassed to say this, from the 100's to the 80's, just by using the PGX. Update from my round at Pala Resort on 4-5-17: As promised, I now have played 4 times with this driver. Well, here it goes.. it is the first time in my life that I DID NOT lose a single ball. I finished with the same ball I started on the 1st tee. I hit 17 fairways, right in the middle. Unbelievable!. I must confess that the only one not on the short grass was my mistake for I did not keep my rhythm throughout my swing. I wanted to hit that ball so far that I blew it, but it landed just close the right edge of the fairway. Not a single slice or draws. All of them were straight like an arrow, oh, and before I forget, I did not have a single shot under 240 yards of distance. Now, I must say that I have bad knees, bad back and I'm 57. Well, there you have it, I hope it helps you make a decision. Have a good day. So I am raising my review to 5 stars OK, I have this tendency to slice my drives, so after reading some of the reviews I decided it to buy it> I got it yesterday and today I played Pala Golf Resort. I left my regular 10.5 degree at home. Results? not a single slice. I was so impressed. I mean, I went 3 times out of 18 holes to the right on the fairway, but not a single ball was lost because of a slice, like going out of bounds or into the water. I just hope this thing lasts. Some people commented that it broke after a few rounds, so maybe they are very powerful hitters. I will update my review a bit more after I play more rounds. So far, I love it.. why not give 5 stars? well... it looks kind of cheap once you examine the painting of the logo and the bottom of the head. On the past I was fearful when I had to pull out the driver out of the bag. With this one I am so confident that I do not care if I have lakes on both sides of the fairway.

Updated Review. I increased my rating from a 1 to a 3. Main reason, over time the club seemed to break in quite a bit and I got more use to it. The head of the club seemed to get more flexible and provide a better strike of the ball the more i played. I still think the head of the club is of below average quality, but for $59 compared to other drivers, not a bad buy. Original review since updated I find it ridiculous to pay $500 for a driver, or even $300. And now it is hard to find a good used driver for under $200. So, I wanted to love this club. However, the club just seemed cheaply made, like it should have cost $29 instead of $59. The bigger problem, I could not hit a thing with it. I had to give up and go back to my old, ancient Cleveland driver. The positives - I liked the slight offset and despite some other reviews the length seemed fine. The shaft and grip were what i expected or better for the price. But the head of the driver looked inexpensive, sounded funny when you hit the ball, and just did not result in a solid shot. Wish I could be more positive as I like the price point.

Update: Replacement was received promptly. Went out to hit 18. Club was light and performed well. Helped correct the slice a little, but that's more or less due to my swing. As others have said, don't expect this to automatically correct your slice, especially if you have a heavy one like me. Only practice and correcting your swing will do that. Everything was in great condition. Went to remove the sticker covering the club face only to find it had a chip almost in the sweet spot. Not sure how it could have been damage as the sticker should have protected it and there was no damage to it either. 1 star right now for damaged goods. Item should have never left the factory like this. I've already started the return process and should be receiving a replacement by Tuesday. I will update the rating when I actually get a chance to use it. Extremely disappointed.

Great value for the money. Pinemeadow continues to impress me for value based golf products. I purchased the driver to attempt to assist with a reoccurring slice. (Sound familiar to anyone else). Before buying a more costly brand name offset or draw driver I wanted to make sure that it would help. The simple answer is YES it does. This club is a fairway finder. I was able to stick some nice drives with a minimal push to the right.. The harder i pushed it the more I could get the slice to return. I have been able over the past few weeks before i bought the club, to make adjustments to my grip that was getting with my Taylormade SLDR, to get my slice to a livable level. That is why I feel this club was able to make drastic improvement. I did lose some distance which may be attributed to swinging a bit slower. The sound was nothing to write home about. Little tinny. The shaft felt a bit whippy but still within the normal regular range. Given that I was swinging a bit slower to start that was less a factor. I did notice a few times the ball popping up. This may have been to me teeing up higher than needed. What this club does not do nor, claim to do. Cure the radical banana slice. If you are a weekend duffer and want to get some balls in the fairway this is a great tool to try. It may even help you enjoy the game more and encourage you to find the adjustments to your swing that will allow you to hang this club up for a more premium performance club. Bonus the color scheme of the Headcover matches my M2 Hybrids and my bag. So, I got that going for me. \Green-black-white. Overall I would recommend trying this club if you understand it's not a magic bullet. If you are wondering if a offset driver may be that little something to make a day out a bit enjoyable? Give a try. The cost is low enough that you can easily give it away to another struggling golfer to try when you have improved and moved on.

It really improves the drives, unless you really mess up the swing. I have second driver, beginners one as well and I do not get the drive without a right slice. With PGX, 80% of my drives are straight. This might not sound good, but I'm a beginner as well. so consider that. Recommend.

Only tried it twice so far. Expected to correct a slice more. May be later when I get to play it a few more times.
