Steak Knives Set of 6 Stainless Steel Full Edge Serrated Steak Knives Dishwasher Safe

My first impression of this product was the amazing way each knife was individually packaged. The knife tips were covered with a solid plastic cap, and the entire blade was enclosed in a cardboard sheath. As if that wasn't enough, on top of that was a clear plastic sleeve. When all of this was removed and I held a bare knife in my hand, I thought: Wow, this is a work of art! These knives are seamless stainless steel, and since the blade and handle are both matte finishes, it gives them a streamlined look. They're very light weight, and the handle fits well in my hand. The teeth are very sharp, and sliced through a steak beautifully. I was further impressed by the full page sheet of information about what can possibly cause rust spots under certain conditions, and how to remove them if they do occur. And these instructions were written in flawless English! I might have been tempted to give just a 4 star rating if they hadn't been, but this product deserves every single one of the FIVE!

Update: Had these for a couple of months and they still cut very well. I have seen a spot or two coming out of the dishwasher (cause I'm not interested in hand-washing :), but it washes off very easily. Customer service with Ashlar has been great. They sent an offer on a discount for a knife block, which I didn't know until after it had expired. I contacted the company and they reactivated the code for me! Great service!! So far these knives our great! They are definitely sharp, and they have cut well so far. I have not yet had any rust spots though they have been in the dishwasher already. They are a bit lighter than I expected, but they still work very well. The handle is a little fatter than I was hoping for so it doesn't fit in my knife block well, but I won't take a star away for that because it is just a compatibility issue. I'll update this if I end up having any problems.

For the cost, a fair set of knives. They shipped and arrived in a timely manner. I bought them because they are rust resistant and dishwasher safe...there is a paper with them that recommends handwashing. The first time I ran them through the dishwasher, they had a few rust spots. I'm thinking it is related to water quality in my area, but that was a little disappointing as they did not 'sit or 'rest' in water. They are sharp and cut clean. I use them to cut meat and oranges or watermelon too, and it does the job just fine. I would recommend but bear in mind they are not truly 'stainless steel'. For the cost, not a bad set of knives. I feel they will last a while, so overall I am satisfied with my purchase.

After 20 years I replaced my flatware and wanted to find some new, high quality, attractive steak knives to replace my older set. I grill out 4-5 times a week and need a good set of steak knives to carve up my meals. I purchased the Ashlar knives based on the strong reviews and product description and I am not disappointed. The knives are a solid, one piece construction with no seams or rivets. They are very light in the hand, balance perfectly, but feel solid when cutting into meat. How do they cut? Like a great knife should. The blade slides through meat easily with no resistance. They are beautiful to the eye AND dishwasher safe (a big plus). The only negative I can think of is they come in a box of 6 instead of 8. Otherwise these are the perfect steak knives. UPDATE: I loved them so much I bought a second set of 6 so that my family of four has "3 sets" worth of knives!

I bought these knives on the strength of the positive reviews from others. I am really, REALLY glad that I did. We have needed steak knives for quite a few years but we nevr found any that were a satisfactory combination of high quality and reasonable price. Until now. I can report without qualification that these steak knives are not only of superior quality but are an outstanding value. They are stainless steel and completely dishwasher safe. They cut all grades of meat effortlessly, like a hot knife through butter! We used them tonight when our family was gathered for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner that included a meat dish. The verdict was unanimous: these knives are the best steak knives anyone has ever used! In fact, I bought a second set within a week of buying the first set after I had used them for the first time on a pork dinner. If you are looking for the best steak knife in existence at an extremely reasonable price, look no further because these knives are it. Do yourself a favor and buy two sets so you never run short of a fantastic steak knife.

I think these knives are very well made. I just do not like the design.The knives have an extremely sharp point at the tip. I do not understand the purpose of having a steak knife having a razor-sharp needle like point. I mean, does anybody spear their meat? The idea is to cut the meat using the serrations on the front face, and then put the meat on your fork and eat it, is it not? I have injured myself a few times with these knives in the dishwasher and in the drawer. I am going to buy a different set and throw these away. One improvement Amazon could make would be to allow the customer to get a better view of what they are buying, and more complete descriptions.

I'm very pleased with my new knives. They're replacing a set that my parents gave me sometime around 1980. That early set has worked well for us, but the knives are now quite dull and frequent runs through the dishwasher have bleached the wooden handles quite badly. So I was glad to see a set of reasonably priced, dishwasher-safe knives. The knives do indeed like my dishwasher, and they perform very well. They have a nice heft and balance, I think they're quite attractive, too, but then I really like the look of stainless steel. I was also impressed with the packaging, which protected the blades and the knife tips well without being excessive,

these are great, cuts through grilled meat like butter and really well balanced for use. HAND WASH ONLY - just be carefully because they are sharp DO NOT put these in the dishwasher, you'll get brown spots and they won't stay sharp for long. Also, don't leave them sitting in the wet sink, they will spot that way as well. Proper maintenance is not unreasonable, this is a great product and benefits well from proper care.

Once I opened the package, the first knife I took out Hassall a rust spot. I will be requesting a refund
