Are the eyes hard or soft?

The eyes are hard plastic but are fairly large so not so much of a choking hazard as others with hard eyes. The rest of the turtle is so soft and cuddly I hardly wanted to give it to my nephew after I got it! He loved it!

Has anyone washed this? It says surface wash only but I was wondering if anyone has washed it on a gentle machine cycle?

Well I had no idea it was surface wash only! I have washed mine several times on gentle cycle in a pillow case.

The turtle almost looks sad in the picture but I think its the angle. Can someone confirm its cute and or smiles? haha

Hi Joe K, the turtle doesn't smile but doesn't look as sad as the picture. I agree that on this particular angle it does look sad. My daughter wanted a turtle after watching the movie Sammy a turtle's take which I recommend by the way. My daughter is very sensitive to facial expression and she would have definitively said something if her turtle looked sad. It's very soft and a nice size. I would buy it again.

How big is this? How big around is the head?

Dont have in front of me and it's been a while. But head is 3x3 and total lenght is about 8 inches maybe. All I know is my 2 year old granddaught then and now 3 is totally in love with it. She says its the turtle son from mermaid.
