Sounds good, but the problem is that the chemicals they use to create the numbing have been linked to the destruction of proteins necessary for visual development in puppies, and cataracts in adult dogs. So, the bottom line is that if you accidentally get 4-Legger shampoo in your dog's eye, it might not feel very good for a few minutes but it's not going to harm your dog's eyes or long term eye health. Thx!** A: Hi Micaela, you can definitely add tea tree oil to the shampoo, but as you stated make sure it is a very high grade of essential oil - like organic or at a minimum, therapeutic/medical grade. I would suggest using a small bottle and mix your formulation in a small batch instead of adding it into your full size bottle. Use the rule: you can always add more, but you can't take it out once it's in! Essential oils are very strong so just a drop or two should be plenty. Yes, all of our 4-Legger shampoo formulations are pH balanced for a dog's more sensitive skin/coat. Dogs have thinner skin than humans so whatever is put on them, absorbs much more quickly. Shampoos or products that are pH balanced for humans will destroy your dogs acid mantle, which is its most important protection to help the immune system guard against infection and fungus. So, a "tear free" shampoo really just means there are even more harmful chemicals in it - nobody wants that for their pup! Cheers! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ UPDATED JUNE 2019:: Works great, smells great and now MORE uses than just a dog shampoo!! *by A***8 on February 26, 2018* I love this shampoo! I wanted to try something that was made using natural products and not chemically induced to rid my dog of fleas. I found this easy to use, but I wish it was a thicker product, its more like a water type of consistency. You can smell the lemongrass in the shampoo, I was a bit worried that the smell might overpower my dog, I mean he has a better sense of smell than I do and I could really smell it. It lathered up well and I did it twice, starting from the head, don't get it in their eyes or nose, and worked my way down to the tail. I rinsed him off and applied it again to be sure that I got every inch of him. He smells great, he has no reaction to it which is what concerned me initially due to the strong smell. But next morning he is doing fine, eating is good and not lethargic at all. He looks, acts and seems like he is content so I would give this product a very good rating. Oh sorry, this is the second shampoo I have given him, I wanted to wait and see if it works and if it affected him adversely.
