Yes, it is Borosilicate glass, can tolerant to repeated heating and cooling, it meets the industry-standard for chemistry use.

Is this mug sturdy and heavy enough for daily use? Or is it more a novelty mug for occasional use?

If say more novelty..BUT I've had a few of these for years. If you are careful with them they last just as long as any glassware. If you're a goon and a moron then it will break easily

How tall is this mug? I'm curious if it will fit under the espresso spouts of my machine.

What is the diameter of the opening?

I haven't measured them, but I can tell you they're definitely larger diameter than almost all of the rest of my mugs (which are 10-oz) vs. this one at 16 ounces. That isn't necessarily bad; depends on your preference. But bigger? Definitely.
