In this follow-up to Fairytopia™, Elina (played by Barbie™) travels to Mermaidia to save her friend Nalu, the merman Prince. Prince Nalu has been kidnapped in an attempt to learn the whereabouts of a special berry that will make Laverna the most powerful fairy in Fairytopia—even more powerful than the Enchantress! It's up to Elina to stop them, but she can't do it alone. She'll need the help of Nori, a headstrong mermaid who doesn't trust outsiders and wants nothing to do with Elina. Winning Nori over isn't easy, but Elina will have more challenges yet to come. Saving Nalu could require the greatest sacrifice of her life: her wings. Classic Barbie mermaid movie.
This Barbie movie is one of the classic movies that I grew up watching. It is now so much fun watching them as an adult with my own daughter. Cute mermaid Barbie movie. This is a part of the Barbie Fairytopia movies, but you don't have to watch them all to understand whats going on. The other movies will give a little more back story, but not a must to see. The perfect movie to follow a teenage swim party!
We bought this movie and a bunch of other Barbie movies for the after-party of our daughter's graduation swim party. She and her friends loved watching the movies and reminiscing about their childhood. Surprisingly, even the teenage boys loved watching the movies. This was the one they watched to kick off the after party and it was quite fitting to follow a fun swim party! Great for children and adults! The product arrived in impeccable condition.

My 4 year old daughter really loves this movie!
I was concerned about purchasing another barbie movie again after buying "...a Fashion Fairytale" because I feel that one is really inappropriate for 4 year old girls (the drama of relationships, cattiness, kissing at the end). I have problems with getting Barbie movies for her because a lot of the ones I see don't have a recommended age listed and I find that the trailers provided doesn't always accurately reflect the content of the movie. But this one is good. There is a little relationship drama, but it is very subtle, and best of all, no kissing (although at one point I was a little worried)! If you have a budding fashionista who loves Barbie like I do but want to expose her to the milder side of Barbie, then this is a good video to get, although I liked these others better: "The 12 Dancing Princess", "The Island Princess", and "Thumbalina".

The animation is great and the storyline perfect for young people. I enjoyed the CG backgrounds -- as a fan of computer animation I was able to watch this without getting bored. It's cool and the voices are excellent. Haben die DVD für unsere Kleine gekauft. Sie freute sich riesig, bis wir die DVD anschauen wollten. Keine Deutsche Sprache. Echt ärgerlich. Rücknahme ja, doch sollte es auf eigene Kosten nach Amerika senden. Da fällt einem nichts ein. Deshalb nur ein Stern.
