Opal Replacement Water Filter

This GE Profile Opal replacement water filter does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well. If you own an Opal nugget ice maker, this is one of those maintenance items that’s easy to overlook, but it makes a noticeable difference in ice quality when you stay on top of it. Installation couldn’t be easier. The filter is clearly designed for the Opal, slides right into place, and locks in without any forcing or confusion. It’s a true drop-in replacement, which is appreciated when you’re just trying to do routine upkeep and not troubleshoot fitment issues. Performance is where it really matters, and this filter delivers. The ice tastes clean and fresh, with no odd flavors or odors, even if your tap water isn’t perfect. Nugget ice absorbs flavors easily, so having a good filter in place is important, and this one does a solid job of improving overall water quality. You can tell the difference, especially if you’ve gone too long between filter changes before. Replacing it every three months feels about right. By that point, you can usually tell the filter has done its job, and swapping it out keeps the machine running at its best. Regular changes also help protect the ice maker itself by reducing mineral buildup, which can extend the life of a pretty expensive appliance. Build quality feels good for what it is. It doesn’t feel flimsy or cheaply made, and it seals properly without leaks. It’s clearly designed specifically for this machine rather than being a generic filter repurposed to fit. While it’s not the cheapest filter out there, it’s worth it for peace of mind and consistent ice quality. This isn’t an area where cutting corners makes much sense, especially when you’re using the ice daily for drinks, entertaining, or just because nugget ice is hard to give up once you’re used to it. Overall, this is a reliable, easy-to-install replacement filter that keeps the Opal ice maker performing the way it should. Clean-tasting ice, simple maintenance, and proper fit make this an easy five-star product for anyone who owns a GE Profile Opal.

If you own a compatible GE Profile Opal ice maker, this replacement filter is an easy way to help keep it performing at its best. Installation is quick and straightforward, and it fits perfectly without any leaks or adjustments. Using a fresh filter gives me peace of mind that the water going into the ice maker is cleaner, and it helps maintain the fresh taste and clarity of the ice. It’s also a simple part of regular maintenance that can help reduce mineral buildup over time. I appreciate that this is made specifically for the Opal system, so there are no concerns about compatibility or fit. Replacing the filter only takes a few minutes, making routine maintenance easy to keep up with. Overall, this is a quality replacement filter that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. If you have a compatible Opal ice maker, it’s a worthwhile purchase to help keep your machine running well and your ice tasting fresh.

Love my opal ice machine! These filters are a great precise and do exactly as needed. Replace mine every couple months abbés my ice cubes stay perfect.

Keeps my ice fresh

I want to believe this is doing what it needs to be doing to clean the water and keep the machine from building up with hard water deposits, but not yet sure. It definitely reduces water flow but it doesn’t seem to impact ice production directly. I already use filtered water for the machine so this was an additional protection barrier.

This filter seems to work really well. My ice doesn’t have a smell or taste to it, and the machine itself doesn’t have excess scaling going on inside, so I’d say the filter is doing its job well. It’s very easy and simple to install into your ice maker, just fully remove the ice bucket and locate the wire mesh screen inside on the upper left area where the recycled water is at. Remove that screen (this was very difficult for me because mine was in there really tightly, and I didn’t want to break this screen, so I ended up having to use a butter knife to wedge in between and pry the screen out gently) once the screen is removed, align the tip of the filter with that hole where the screen was, keep it held there and lower the filter down into the water area, keeping it vertical and flush against the left side of the reservoir and push down and inward until you hear and feel it click in. It’ll be obvious when it’s correctly and properly installed. There is no sort of soaking or rinsing required for this filter, it can go straight into your machine from the package (wash it after removing from the plastic shrink wrap though)

Just as I ordered.

Excellent product and addition to the Opal Ice Maker. I will not run mine anymore without a filter attached after a long stint of my machine making all sorts of awful noises. After cleaning and switching to a filter I havent had the same problems return. The filter fits perfectly, is easy to install and is a really intuitive design. All of the ice that the machine produces tastes great and I couldnt think of a better way to spend my money to protect my expensive ice machine
