Try it on a area that is of similar thickness to see if the clasp over the pin seats and will not come off easily.

What is that strange pin on the back? Would it wasily pin to a ball cap?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I had no trouble attaching the pin to the lapel of a denim jacket which is, I would think, much thicker than a baseball cap. The pin comes in 2 pieces. All you need to do is to squeeze the raised part of the piece on the back. It comes off revealing a pin which is attached to the part with the flag. Decide where you want to place the flag, push the pin through the hat, and then re-attach the second part to the sharp pin. The flag should stay in place for as long as you wish to keep it on your cap.

Perfect size
