HDMI to RCA Converter, HDMI to AV for Apple TV, Roku, Fire Stick - Black

Used to convert HDMI to RCA in my minivan to hook up a firestick for the rear entertainment system. Worked like charm.

This little thing is awesome! On vacation there was a tv in the small bedroom that was so old it didn’t have any HDMI or USB ports. I used this converter to attach my fire stick. It gave a great picture and worked perfect!

This device works fine with my Roku Express 4K+ feeding an older Visio TV. I cannot see much difference in the video quality nor hear much difference in the audio quality when using this adapter as compared to feeding the TV's HDMI input directly. Installation of the adapter was quick and easy (powered from the TV's USB port) and was literally "plug and play". I got this adapter because the Visio TV has only one HDMI input, and I wanted to be able to switch easily between the Roku device and the cable box using the TV's input selection. (Previously, I used an HDMI switch - which was good signal-wise but inconvenient because the HDMI switch isn't remotely operable). I've used this HDMI-to-RCA adapter for only a couple weeks so far, but it has worked fine during that time and appears to be well-made. It does have the typical problem of adding to the tangle of cables around the TV. ;-)

I picked this up to use on a trip to Italy where they aren't exactly big on TVs like we are in the states. My last stay I found that hotel and private rentals there all had very old TVs. Now several years later I am returning and bringing my chromebook with an USB-C adapter with HDMI output. I wanted to be able to use my streaming services via the chromebook on my stay and this seems to do the trick. I of course is a downgrade in quality resolution wise but that is a tech limitation, not this product. I tested with the local setting, yet to test overseas but think it will be fine. The one less star is for the quality, it does feel pretty flimsy but being careful should be fine. It does require usb power, which in my particular case isnt going to come from the old TVs so be sure to bring a plug adapter.

It arrived quickly, was a good price, but unable to get it to work on my old TV. It may not be this device, more likely the person trying to get the old TV to do something new. Still a work in progress. But as for the company that sent it, it was exactly what they said and I hope it will work with a plug in Roku since this old firestck wouldn't work.

Use this with Firestick on older tvs. Works well, good picture quality. Able to move from one tv to another easily. Have been using for 2 months without issues.

This converter is junk worked for 2 days then got extremely hot. I do not recommend this potential fire hazard

I’m sure it’s in their printed tech specs somewhere. But I was in a hurry and the price and prior reviews swayed me to buy this. A waste of time and money in my case. Apparently this model can’t handle the highest streaming rates some modern versions of HDMI generate. It’s probably fine for older HDMI outputs. When connected to a new Roku streaming stick the resultant picture was highly distorted and only visible in black and white. I’ve located another converter - for twice the price of this one - on Amazon that is specifically advertised as Roku compatible and have it on order. Will update review. Am setting up an old 50” Panasonic in my garage that years ago lost its HDMI capabilities. It’s worked fine on RCA inputs for the last several years. But recently switched from cable to broadband for all connectivity - including TV. So I need to connect a Roku device to the set. Based on this experience I recommend caution in buying such a device and that folks first run a web-search detailing their particular situation. Buy an HDMI/ RCA converter that’s clearly identified as compatible with the particular HDMI version / device they are using. As of 2020 the “latest greatest” version of HDMI is Version 2.1 / Here’s a list of several different versions of HDMI (since its inception) for whatever value it may hold. Version 1.0 Version 1.1 Version 1.2 Version 1.3 Version 1.4 Version 2.0 Version 2.1 UPDATE: The replacement HDMI / RCA converter has arrived and works beautifully. I’ve tested it with both a newer Roku and a new Amazon Fire Stick. Great picture. It is marketed by Bleiden. They appear to be a large seller on Amazon.
