Happy Happy Happy
I already have some knowledge to be able to use and pronounce the vocabulary and phrases in this book. If you are thinking about buying this book, educate yourself first in the Russian basics first because this book doesn't come with a CD or a digital file which is my reason for my 1 star deduction. I strongly recommend the guidance of a Russian native teacher or someone else that has a lot of experience acquired that sound native.

Great Phrase book for Beginners and Intermediate Students
This is review for me. I'm going to be teaching someone Russian, so I bought one for her and one for me. It's excellent. It provides the phrases in Russian, English and a transliterated form that makes it easy to figure out how to pronounce everything. (It even shows when to pronounce unaccented vowels differently! Wow!). Highly recommend it.

great buy for any traveller in Russia.
Very easy to use and helpful with getting the relatively accurate pronunciations. Came in very handy on the Trans-Siberian and in towns that have fewer tourists (and hence fewer English signs) Phrases are separated into logical chapters. Learnt the Cyrillic alphabet in a day thanks to this book!

Newbie Review
This was my first phrase book and I only looked at it for a few minutes but it does feel like they give you the basics on how to read, pronounce, and form basic phrases in the Russian language. It's a relatively small book, easy to carry around. Nice sized print for easy reading.

KINDLE VERSION AWFUL
THIS IS A HANDY GUIDE TO USEFUL PHRASES BUT A FEW CAUTIONS: TRANSLATIONS ARE INEXACT, HE USES 'I WANT" TO TRANSLATE I WOULD LIKE', FOR EXAMPLE; AND THE CYRILLIC IN THE KINDLE VERSION IS TINY FONT; ALSO SOME OF THE PHRASES ARE MISMATCHED, THE INCORRECT RUSSIAN TO TRANSLATE THE ENGLISH. KINDLE VERSION SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

Un livre à acquérir pour redécouvrir le russe
J'ai choisi de mettre la note maximale car je trouve ce livre très utile afin de réviser ou apprendre le russe non seulement au niveau du vocabulaire, mais aussi des mots dans un certain contexte.

Great little book for a beginner
Great little book for a beginner, though if you already know the Cyrillic alphabet, try not to look at the transliteration it slows you down a little.

Lots and lots of mistakes
This book has bad mistakes. I havent even been studying Russian a month and I can spot these horrible flaws. For example 75. I live with a partner. = Я в разводе = Ya-zhi-vu- spart-nyo-ram. The correct Russian should be Я живу с партнером, but the Russian here reads "I am divorced" and aligns with the previous phrase, 74. The Russian-Cyrillic writing for 75 is not there. That's not the first mistake but it's the first obviously bad mistake. I'm not the sort of guy to hate on a book just because of a few badly spelled book, like another Russian book I have says "Pronounce" instead of Pro-nouns and I'm happy to let that or poorly worded sentances in English slip, but this book is totally unacceptable. Now I feel I can't even trust the rest of this book, you never know what you might be really saying.

Uses a Phonetic System
I have not yet gone to Russia so I cannot tell you how effective this book is, however, I can say that I appreciate the phonetic spelling of the Russian words. I cannot spell in English so trying to make sense of Russian Cyrillic spelling is hopeless for me. The phonetic spelling is wonderful.
