Rodriguez, the enigmatic subject of the 2012 Academy Awardr-winning documentary, Searching for Sugar Man, released two albums with Sussex Records, 1970's Cold Fact and 1971's Coming from Reality. Out of print on vinyl for several years, both albums are newly remastered by Alex Abrash at AA Mastering and are available on July 12 by Tabu/UMe for reissue on CD, 180-gram and limited-edition vinyl, with images chosen by the artist. Review: Loved this album - I wished he’d made more albums. Bought both he did make and loved the music. Review: Incredible, but sad that the Sugarman didn't have the success that he deserved - I watched the 'Sugarman' documentary & was inspired to buy this CD. I have never heard of this guy & I study classic rock/ music extensively. This is an amazing album - start to finish. Better songwriter & voice than the folk great Bob Dylan.

Watch the documentary
Great album. A very sad story of a man who passed away from a stroke but was unknown to much of the US due to poor exposure and bootleg thieves. Watch the documentary “ Searching for Sugarman.”

Worth a go
This is the sort of cd that grows on you the more you play it. I think inner city blues is my favorite on here and as one person has said a cross between Jose feliciano and Dylan. Clever lyrics.

with plenty of fine background instrumentation
You can tell that when this album was made so many years ago that the record label thought a lot of Rodriquez, It was a very well produced album, with plenty of fine background instrumentation. Maybe even more remarkable, during an era when a lot of master tapes were thrown out, reused, or mishandled, the original tapes for Cold Fact seem to have held up well resulting in a nice digital recording. Now the important part: I had not heard of Rodriguez prior to the 60 Minutes article. So I was listening to the music with new ears. Musically, it's very good music, not just for the era that it was produced but it sounds very good today. It really does "make me wonder" why his music never took off. I think that if this album had come out about 7 years earlier it would have hit the sweet spot of folk music and he would have been a star.

Soddisfatto

My favourite album since 1981.
I replaced my old CD with this after I discovered I hadn’t looked after my first version very well. iMusic didn’t recognise the songs which was strange. I’ve been listening to this since 1981. It’s still my favourite album. Never seem to tire of it. I’ve introduced it to many friends over the years and had the privilege of seeing Rodriguez twice in Sydney. Got my photo taken with him and he signed my original album. Such a true gentleman. He had an extraordinary life. He is very missed.

I have to say as a fan of 70s music, getting to know and listen to Sixto is heaven. This album is incredible.
