Can't hope for more from a head torch
I have been up multi-pitch climbs in the dark and bouldering night sessions with this thing and it has been amazing. I always like the red light as it does not disturb your night vision as much. The dimming and boost is easy and useful. battery life is great and I just alternate between two rechargeable sets so I never need to worry.

Comfortable and bright, ultra running must have
Despite being slightly heavier than other lamps, the batteries being on the back/extendable pack make the lamp seem like nothing on the forehead. Overall this solves the problem some have on keeping a headlamp in place. It has a very bright beam and brilliant adjustability of intensity.

Over fiddly buttons
Works well enough but sometimes I can't get the setting I want while it's on, I don't find the buttons intuitive. Previous model lasted well so expecting this to be durable if slightly annoying.

Damaged
Item had previously been used. A battery was missing and the battery case was damaged. My husband has this headlamp and I purchased this for my daughter as he has found this lamp to be so good

every so often it switches to flashing mode
Even though i press no button the light just goes into flashing mode often. I am wondering do i have a faulty light or is this a problem with this light? Is worth me replacing or getting another light?

All sales talk no go
So promised so much.. Long battery life was one of the attractions. Reality is batteries drain in 4 days no matter how good a duracell is in. Cheap batteries last identical time. If it was being used would be understandable but use is 10 mins one night then 4 nights later down to 1 bar on battery. Drains when turned off. On second set of durable Pro batteries it keep dimming and brightening by itself. So far on total 45 minutes use I have used 3 setts of brand new batteries.

$100 Black Diamond Icon 700 lumens I've had headlamps: BD ICON 100 (white & red, 100 lumens, still working) NiteCore HC90 RGB (18650 rechargeable, 2-920 lumens, works well, except poorly designed USB port gasket falls off and gets lost, even tho they ship with 2 gaskets) Lumentac RGB ($25, bright 200 lumens, focusable, intensity not adjustable, rechargeable 18650, great product for money) Slonik (overpriced dual LEDs, but multiple intensity levels. The have a model 500 focusable headlamp.) This product, BD Icon 700 with Lithium battery, $155. This headlamp does most of what you need a headlamp to do. = White + RGB = Selectable intensity in each mode. = Touching the right side of the headlamp instantly jumps light intensity to full, so an annoyance or benefit. = $55 Optional 5.2 Amp battery pack. + Better head weight distribution with battery in the back than the NiteCore HC90. + a decent all purpose adjustable headstrap. + The RGB Lamps are brighter than HC90. + Each lamp mode remembers its iintensity level. + The CRI lamp is very wide beam, suitable for taking pictures or doing some fill flash at night. + Long battery life on low settings. + The 5.2 Ahr rechargable Lithium battery can be put on headstrap in back of head, or relocated to a pocket with cord extension supplied. – Light housing is made out of cheap plastic and will break after a year, and won't hold headlamp together. – Charger electronics are poor quality. Charger will not charge up and finish. But it does charge. – The additional 5.2 A battery worked fine for first few charges, then quickly declined in capacity. – Strobe is an annoyance available in each lamp mode. RECOMMENDATION How much would you pay for a headlamp that falls apart in a year due to bad plastic? The $53 5.2 A battery works OK. Might be better and more lightweight to purchase highest quality ~3A rechargeable AAs (lithium or NIMH or NiFe) that hold a proper charge and decent charger, and keep a second set of fully charged 4*AAs with you.
