It's very precise but it is plastic so handle with some care.
For precision watering it is unrivaled. Low flow, high flow, whatever, it works beautifully. I bought my first one last year and have just now purchased my second one to replace my Nelson oscillating sprinkler which will not oscillate if I turn the flow down too low and which is difficult to adjust to cover various areas without over watering. I have several 4 foot x 8 foot planting boxes and this can be set to water them easily and very accurately. I also have several other beds of varying sizes and shapes and this sprinkler can be easily adjusted from narrow to wide and from short to long beds. The nozzles are of a soft material (possibly silicone?) and if they get clogged, as they inevitably do, then a simple rub or prod at the offending nozzle usually clears it. The downside? Two things: it's plastic and does not feel particularly rugged so it should be handled with some care. I avoid tossing or flinging it or banging it around and I don't handle it by the sprinkler head. Second, the flow control valve is at the base just under the sprinkler head and adjusting the flow while the sprinkler is on can make for rather an uncomfortable experience. My solution is to add a 6 foot leader hose with a quick connect on the female end. In addition, I use a ball valve with male quick connect attached to the male end of my hose to control the water flow. This allows me to stand away from the sprinkler and adjust the flow without getting rained on. Pricey? Yeah, it is. But this sprinkler is the best I've ever used and I'm getting rid of all my other sprinklers.

Best sprinkler ever
Work wonderful for my small pie shaped yard. I loved it so much that I bought other couplers to put onto my hoses to make the connections easier. Can control the amount of water and how far it goes horizontally or vertically.

A Good Sprinkler for Small or Broken-up Yard
This is a very nice sprinkler for a small yard or a yard broken up into fairly small areas. It can be a pleasure to use on a hot summer day, depending on your outlook. Pros: - On its maximum range setting, with my water pressure this sprinkler will cover about 36' x 18'. - The coverage can be adjusted separately to the left, right, front, and back of this sprinkler, so you can easily water just a narrow patch of grass or a small area you just had to replant. - It's easy to turn down the flow/height so it doesn't hit an overhanging roof. - This sprinkler is relatively small and light, while a large base keeps it stable during watering. - You can remove an end cap and daisy-chain this sprinkler with something else, if you're so inclined. Cons: - The adjustments are somewhat complicated at first, though you can figure them out fairly quickly through trial and error. - You've got five adjustments to play with, so if you move the sprinkler around there's no way you're going to get the settings right on your first guess. If you can set these all appropriately without getting soaked in the process, you're a better waterer than I am. ;-) - If you decrease the width of the coverage the little nozzles all tilt up, meaning you'll get more water on the side you narrowed. This isn't a big deal, but be warned. Note that the width adjustment is stiff, so it can be hard to get it right (see the last point above). Note: This sprinkler is designed for Gardena's snap-on connector system, which you're either going to love or hate. If you've already adopted Gardena's connectors (they fit Melnor connectors in the U.S.), this will be a nice convenience. Otherwise, you'll have to screw the included snap-on connector onto your hose end each time you want to use this sprinkler. If you just leave the connector attached to the sprinkler, however, that shouldn't be a problem. Update 4/29/15: I bought another one of these sprinklers a few weeks ago, and it leaked like crazy around the back of the little orange dial that controls the water height. I returned the leaky sprinkler to Amazon, but the replacement did exactly the same thing. Finally, I got a replacement head directly from Gardena support in Ontario (905) 792-9330, which worked perfectly. Looks like Amazon might have gotten a defective lot. Just be aware that this sprinkler is not supposed to leak.

STURDY---WELL MADE ---ADJUSTABLE SPRAY WIDTH SPRINKLER
Very nice piece of equipment. Do you need another sprinkler? If you have a bunch that don't let you put the water exactly where you want it or you have some that fall over or only work on one side and are planning on getting a new one--do you want this one? It's not the most economical one on the market--but when I checked reviews --it rated very highly and I tend to concur with those reviews. I WAS TIRED OF GETTING WET SETTING AND RESETTING THE SPRINKLER TO HIT THE RIGHT SPOTS I do still have some sprinklers that spin in a circle, this one is like the type that oscillate back and forth and cover a longer area. BUT THE DESIGN OF THIS ONE LET'S ME SET IT TO WIDER OR NARROWER DEPENDING ON THE SPOT I AM WATERING. See the little orange button showing on the image--you move that to adjust the width of the spray and there's one on the other side too. It has the other usual settings for letting you adjust the head to the right or left. That's why I purchased it, that, and the fact that IT IS SO VERY WELL MADE. It's sturdy--it has metal in the base so the unit does not tip over. The plastic is good quality and should not break down or crack from use in the sun. The hose connector is not cheap and flimsy-it's very well constructed, the entire unit feels light years more substantial than any other sprinkler I've ever had the displeasure to fiddle with.

the good: the sprinkler is incredibly customizable
We purchased a total of three of these sprinklers a few months ago to use in our irregularly-shaped yard. First, the good: the sprinkler is incredibly customizable. You can really target the spray pattern to cover smaller or larger areas, and even make somewhat irregular shapes. We tried a number of sprinklers and this was the only one that worked for our yard. We liked the first one so much we bought two more. It also sprays well and evenly, and can be daisy-chained well. Now, the bad: we used them last fall, put them away for the winter and just took them back out. Two of the three have sprung large leaks from the center body -- see the included image -- almost all of the water is leaking out the center rather than coming out of the nozzles. Two out of three is a ridiculous failure rate for such an expensive sprinkler! We contacted Gardena for warranty service, and it's been a disaster. First, they have no US office -- their Canada office covers both the US and Canada. They are open very limited hours, but do have a web form to submit issues. Unfortunately, the web form seems to just go into a black hole -- there's no confirmation that you sent anything, and they don't respond. We called their office during the limited hours they're open -- you can only leave a message for their service department who calls back a few days later. The woman who called back tried to be somewhat helpful. She wants us to ship the (heavy) sprinklers, at our expense, to an inspection office in Michigan and then they'll consider shipping replacements from Canada in 2-3 weeks. They refused to pay for return shipping and said that's just how their warranty works -- the customer is on the hook for shipping, even when the product is defective. Since we had just reseeded our lawn, we had no choice but to buy replacement sprinklers instead. Reasonable customer service would have been to ship us replacement heads and cover return shipping for the defective heads. I'm sorry to say that I can't recommend this sprinkler -- it's too bad, because it's really useful -- it just doesn't last and costs too much to replace every year!

Best Sprinkler I've ever had
Great product. Looks like it might be complicated to use in the picture, but its not. So easy to adjust and control water flow. Big full stream of water. You can adjust to reach very tall heights or short ones. The adjustments are very simple and precise.Like any other sprinkler , at full flow in a strong wind it will move pattern , but not turn water into a mist. It keeps pattern , just moves it over. You can use it in precise and small areas also. Most sprinklers don't oscillate well and preform poor when on low for small areas. This one works perfect and fully oscillates and has a nice stream.I used to move my sprinkler 5-6 times and then hand water certain areas. Last night I only moved it 3 times and only had to hand water a small area under a tree. Great product and even though t's $46.00 it's worth every penny. It is a must have for every one who likes to maintain a lush lawn. This will be a Christmas gift for family members this year who are yard minded.

Great product
My last Gardena sprinkler lasted a decade. I love this brand -- it's incredibly easy and intuitive to use and easy to set up. The snap-on feature eliminates so many headaches. This one reaches every part of my small garden, very efficiently.

Adore the adjustability
The four directions of independent adjustability on this sprinkler is wonderful. I have a narrow side yard that the average sprinkler will cover but, will also soak the house and water my neighbors yard. I do like my neighbor yet, I don’t think either of us needs me to water the fence and the poison ivy. That’s why this sprinkler is so wonderful. I’m able to adjust the side to side spray as well as the distance as it oscillates to ensure the correct coverage of new grass that was planted and my small garden. I also appreciate the quick connect attachment for the hose that comes with this sprinkler. I can leave the sprinkler in the prime location to cover the yard, disconnect the hose from the sprinkler using the neat attachment, and then easily remove the attachment to use the hose to water other parts of the yard. Definitely recommend this sprinkler for its ability to be adjusted to cover both small and large areas.

Rotation stopped in 1 month
It hasn't been even a month and the sprinkler has stopped rotating. Not worth the money. Do not buy. Too much money for a below average product. works very similar to the products in 1200 range, while this one costs 4000. Trust me, don't buy it. All hype, very poor quality.

Great little sprinkler
We've been using this the last couple seasons, and it's done a great job watering our lawn that's about 40 feet across and maybe 15-20 feet deep. The base is heavy enough that it doesn't move at all despite being exposed to heavy wind and hail even on the corner lot. The quick-attach is nice to have when you want to remove the hose for lawn-mowing without moving the sprinkler out of position. The sprinkler head adjustment works well as well, and you can individually adjust both sides as well as the angle of the spray. I don't love everything from Gardena, but this sprinkler has been great for us. We now use a similar sprinkler on the front lawn, albeit with a spike instead of the base. Do look in to the spike if that's an option for you, since the base will leave a ring of dead grass which might be okay if you never plan to move the sprinkler. Otherwise you'll see a mini crop circle.

Great sprinkler for low water pressure
This is a great sprinkler for low water pressure areas. Our water pressure seems to have been throttled so previous sprinklers do not work correctly. All features on sprinkler work perfectly with good range

For Gardena people: lately I have experienced some problems with this Gardena Zoom Max, eventually it stops oscillating and need to give a little push in order to swing again, always stops on the same side (right as seen from the water inlet), so what ¿can I do to correct this problem? The water in this area is some hard, so please give me instructions to fix this problem.
