LIFE CHANGING
Limitless Review: Jim Kwik. What an incredible person and what an incredible book. I’ve learn things in this book that have dramatically improved my quality of life in the form of a promotion a work, recall, building my library (in over flow now, lol), my deductive reasoning, memory recall, and so much more. The frame work alone has me computing situations much faster. Folks, you’ll learn about things in this book such as; digital dementia and the affects of blue light, effects of EMF, and many other brain health facts that are not all that common. The strategies and the nemonic devices that Jim offers have been ground breaking to me, and definitely help crack the codes that many of us have been stuck on for decades. I’ve shared this book with so many people, even on my social media. There are other eye opening facts that are included such as task switching and it’s perils, as well as brain hydration, and the positive effects of positive self-talk, see what I did there 😉. The chain reaction that results from speed reading and the focus that is derived from it. I’ve literally taken almost every course that the Kwik Learning team has offered and I’ve grown in my career, my endeavors, and in life. This book is so good that coming to the end of it is bitter sweet. These are tools many of us probably wish we would have had decades ago, but hey, we have them today and we shall make the rest of our lives, the best of our lives. Again, thank you so much Jim, I definitely share your podcast and book with as many people as I can. Keep inspiring the minds, your courses and book have done wonders in my life. Happy to have found your work.

Skip the first 7 chapters
Favorite Quote: Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from. I read this quote a fourth of the way through the book: "I'm going to share much of that method with you in the book." (The referenced method is how to easily memorize information.) It's like, dude. Enough. I bought your book. You don't need to sell me. I've literally purchased and read a fifth of your book, get to the damn actionable advice already! I had to wait until Chapter 8 for this actionable information. The first third of the book has taken the approach that the reader first needs to be built up and given confidence in their abilities. Time and time again the author references limiting beliefs and such. If you don't suffer any prior traumatic psychological issues that you can't over on your own (as the author had), I think you can skip this portion. And, I'm no genius. In fact, I think my learning abilities are average. I enjoyed the part about brain foods, though, with the exception of Tumeric, I'd consider them all relatively obvious, healthfood options (blueberries, avocado, leafy greens, water, etc.). One of the most intriguing concepts in the book is the Fogg behavioral Model which says for a behavior to happen three things need to happen: trigger, ability, motivation. Let's say there's a raffle and you win. It's $10 and you win, but you're not a good dancer. You decide not to embarasse yourself in front of a big crowd. In this case, the trigger was you winning, you have the ability to dance (though you may not be skillful), but you lacked the motivation. Let's say, now, the prize is $1,000. The increase in price money gives you motivation and you dance. The author recommends some things for better minds: -a glass of celery juice and probiotics in the morning and/or before you start working. -meditation, specifically Ziva Meditation. -rubbing essential oil on your wrist while you are learning and just before the test. Smell brings back memories. -scent of rosemary to improve memory and peppermint/lemon to promote concentration Probably the most enlightening chapter was Chapter 9: Small Simple Steps as it provided information on habits or behaviors and how to form them. Basically, everybody wants to eliminate a bad habit and form a good habit. A habit is a behavior. And a behavior happens when three criteria are satisfied: motivation, ability, trigger. Exponential thinking is a neat concept. Essentially, it's creativity at its core. How easily can you connect the dots between two seemingly unrelated things. The two bonus chapters are unavailable on his website. In fact, so is his list of brain supplements.

I bought this book wanting to learn how to read faster and enhance my memory. I got more than that. Kwik describes learning myths like: -->You’re as smart as you’ll ever be. (You’re not). -->Education ends when you graduate school. (The real world is a constant test). -->Believing you are not as smart and skilled as others. -->Learning something new is hard (e.g., a language, musical instrument, a card game, poetry, baking). I've believed all these things at various times. Kwik's message is you're better than that. You can walk away from this book smarter than when you started. There are no magic tricks, but you learn the principles of how to get a stronger mindset, how to discover your purpose and beat procrastination, and methods to become limitless such as speed-reading, memory recall, study habits, focus, and decision making. I think what's most powerful about this book is that you learn the simple art of appreciating yourself. You understand that you are capable of many great things. I certainly have a lot to consider after reading this book. I always thought it was too late in life to learn a new language. But now I don't think so. Now there is so much I want to learn! What I learned: --There are learning myths holding us back. --I love this quote: “Genius leaves clues. There is always a method behind what looks like magic.” I think you can apply this to so many things in life. If you want to get better at X, look at the masters you admire. What was their story? What did they study? -- Discovering your guiding question will help you make decisions and frame all your actions around a purpose. -- I can read a lot faster and still comprehend! --Rote learning is not the way to remember. I have tools like visualization to remember more. I don’t want to wind up losing my memory one day or having something like Alzheimer's happen. I believe this book and others are important tools in my arsenal to keep me young and healthy.

Before I started to read the Limitless book I had problem with overall daily issues with inner voices and my mindset was not really aligned with my goals our desires to even be near limitless with the mindset, motivation or the methods that you can use to learn new materials like an master student. For my goals that I was aware of I was not really highly motivated to keep learning and train my brain consistently, I didn't ask the right questions such as what, why and how. The what is it to me for what I want to learn, what I deserve and what I am capable of that was not aligned to my identity, passion, values and reasons. I had to much doubt. The limitless mindset chapter made me re-frame my beliefs and convinced me that the mind can be trained to do so much more then we usually believe, as long as you show gratitude of the all possibilities that is out there for you to learn with an positive, loving and healthy mindset. Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci were true examples that you thought they were true geniuses, but they had learning difficulties and got trained to be geniuses in their field. Before I read the limitless motivation chapter the why to take any action to do something was average at best, it required me to spend more energy to get into something and try to learn a new thing, and it was not always the case that I got into the zone by doing so since I was not prioritizing my time, right mood and attention good enough even if I eat a healthy diet that gives me energy and I have an inspiring network of highly truly successful people to motivate me. My purpose and energy and the small simple steps were not practiced so much at all. I spent to much time playing games or seeing to much series that didn't work on my personal development and personal growth even if I thought that puzzles would keep me motivated. After examine my identity, passions, reasons and values from the limitless motivation section I knew I have a lot I want to learn and to accomplish things and I understood that with a positive, loving and passionate mindset were I found the root of my identity, values and reasons you can make every learning experience to be really fun and easy and you will be highly motivated as long as you eat healthy diet, have an inspiring and motivating peer group, clean environment that cause no disturbance. The motivation chapter also taught me that even if you have high motivation based on high energy and high on purpose and small simple steps; it takes practice with small simple steps to replace an old and even bad habits with new and good habits. To form a new habit to learn about a specific topic, that topic must be relatively easy to understand, little time required to get into it, the physical effort must be low, the cost for doing it must be within your budget and close to your comfort zone to form the habit. I also learned that you can have several passions and those will change overtime and there is endless of material to learn. And to be able to form new habits, the motivation chapter taught me that it's easier to form new habits and learn new material if you have a morning routine since small accomplishment early in the morning will lead to high motivation during the day. Even the evening routines to practice learning, practice memory by going over previous learning session, train the brain and doing other tasks before going to sleep helps a lot to. With high motivation, attention, interest, clean environment and enough time without disturbance you chances greatly increases to be in the flow state when learning new stuff as the task is challenging enough. Anyone wants to be in the flow state when you are working with tasks and learning new material. Before I started to read the limitless methods chapter I knew I had issues reading articles and books it felt it was boring, tedious and I could wander-read material that took a lot of effort, time and energy. By going through the focus, study memory and speed reading chapter I realized that if you are highly motivated, highly focused, highly concentrated and with high attention with no disturbance you got into the zone really quick by reading page after page, especially if you were listening to mindfulness music or brain entertainment music and took highly valuable notes while reading new material. I have never enjoyed reading books before they way I read it now. After reading the memory chapter my dreams got much more vivid dreams and I have taken notes of them every since. I understand to be better at remembering dreams, material I read and be even faster reader with high concentration and high attention I need to practice reading on daily practice, read new material every day to be better reader, better learner, have a better memory and spend time on daily basis with spaced repetition with active recall to go over material I've read before to keep my brain and memory in shape every morning and evening. My journey as an apprentice student has just started. This book is absolutely fantastic and it leads to exponential brain growth opportunities!
This is a text book to upgrade your brain. Just like a luxurious Christmas hamper, it's fully packed with goodies. Only good things, nothing is a filler. There are many practical techniques to learn such as creating good habits, speed reading, memory retention, strategic thinking and more. The brain coach Jim encourages us to teach these techniques to others so you can learn twice. By teaching, you can ensure that you have a good understanding of the techniques and be able to apply your knowledge. Applied knowledge in action is power. As Jim puts it, this book is truly "One Book to Learn Them All". The chapters are set out so you can follow in the order of your limitless adventure. In fact, you do limitless.
