I was having issues with a newer tank, and I dosed the tank with this product just to be sure everyone was safe. Well, in the morning, my royal gramma had passed away, BUT the sea horses and dottyback miraculously were still alive. I thought, oh crap, the Ammo-Lock killed the gramma (but now I'm certain the exposure to ammonia, nitrites, and phosphates were just too much for him, Ammo-Lock or not). The seahorses survive and went to a friend, but the dottyback stayed because he was doing ok. 2-1/2 days later, he was about 5 minutes from death. I realized then that the Ammo-Lock had saved him and the seahorses because I saw first hand that the Ammo-Lock had worn off just like the instructions said: it only lasts about two days . So, the dottyback got tossed into a tank with lots of coral, and he recovered within the hour. I dosed again with the Ammo-Lock when I got a bit of ammonia in that tank (it's a long story), and he's still going strong. The corals are fine, and the tank parameters didn't change a bit after dosing. This stuff really works. I am not sure if it is safe for little turtles. **Q: Since this only detoxifies ammonia, is there a chemical additive that removes ammonia? and not a filtering device.** A: Chlorine but of course you will kill your fish, I actually tryed this product but in my experience did more bad than good. If you really want to remove ammonia in a safe way you will need to do water change daily first day 50% after that 20% for at least 5 day and then check your water parameters. Don't add more fish until your filter is cycled.Of course if your filter was never cycled you will have to continue doing water changes every other day 10-20%.
