Highly Recommended – Safe, Bright, and Reliable SOS Signal! I purchased the Sirius Signal C-1003 SOS LED Distress Signal for my boat, and I’m extremely impressed. The setup was super easy, and I love that it’s USCG-approved, so I know I’m covered for safety requirements. Bought this to replace expired flares for my boat. The unit is compact, bright, lasts longer, comes with the daytime distress flag and no worries about having flares on the boat. Nice upgrade, and great quality product.

The Sirius Signal C-1003 SOS LED Flare Electronic Visual Distress Signal Kit is a game changer for marine safety. The LED flare is bright and visible from a great distance, even in daylight, which is a huge plus for emergency situations. The kit also includes a distress flag and a whistle, providing everything you need to signal for help in any emergency. I appreciate that it is CG approved, ensuring it meets the necessary safety standards. The battery life is impressive, and the entire kit is compact and easy to store on board. To install the provided batteries, the clear light top needs to be unscrewed as nothing else does. Batteries are provided but once put into the tube, screwing the clear top back on is a challenge. Turns out the wider foam circle interferes with screwing the clear top back on. If you slide the foam ring down the tube a little bit, it then is easier to screw the clear top back on enough to engage the electrical contacts that allow the light to come on. Then move the foam ring back up into place. I haven't tested it for waterproofness. The light does flash out S-O-S and seems bright.

Replaced my expiring flares!

Was delivered overnight even though I ordered standard ground shipment. Product looks great. Simple to use and operates without any issues. Even came with new batteries so ready to use.

I purchased the Sirius Signal C-1003 to replace the typical flares required by the USCG regulations for my boat. The typical flares have expiration dates and have to be current in order to be compliant with the regulations. The expired flares then have to be disposed of properly, usually by soaking them in water for 24 hours then putting them in the trash. The Sirius Signal C-1003 only requires that batteries be fresh to operate, it does not expire, the flare operates for a very long duration, it is extremely bright and flashes the Morse Code for SOS when activated. I would definitely recommend this product for any boater.

Seems a great device. Tried it out at home and its very bright. (Hopefully I won't need it when on the water!) Thankfully regs have changed (in Tasmania, Australia) to allow an EVDS instead of flares - no more replacing them every 3 years. The Sirius unit was a good price and represents good value. (bit of no-brainer really to get one when your flares expire). Shipping/delivery was amazingly fast.

This device solves the expensive dilemma of replacing flares every four years and struggling to find a place to legally dispose of the expired pyrotechnics. It lasts much longer than flares and cartridges and does not present a hazard to the user when employed. Safer, less expensive, long duration and easy to use in an emergency. A win all around.
