Great solution
I removed a single LED round ceiling light in my garage so I could install some more effective strip LED lights. I needed to be able to simply plug those new strip lights in, so I wanted to convert the old round ceiling box into a receptacle. This adapter worked out perfectly. (See photo) I made sure to measure the box and compare it to the dimensions listed in the ad before ordering, as I noticed a few reviewers said this adapter did not work for their application. For me, no problem. The installation went fairly easily, however, I did have to 'egg out' one of the holes in the adapter just a bit because the screw was just a tad out of alignment with the mounting hole on the box. I just took a same size drill bit as the hole in the adapter and wallowed out the plastic, just a tiny bit. This was all it took to allow me to line up the screws to the holes. Then I added a cover plate and the install was done. I am very happy with the end results. Now, I have excellent and more thorough lighting in my garage, thanks to this adapter and new LED strip lights.

Good quality, but overpriced
If you need a round box adapter (I did!) this is a very good one, but it’s severely overpriced. It’s a piece of molded plastic with a closed-cell foam “gasket” attached to the back. It works very well. However, I was convinced there had to be a similar one at a better price — there is! Home Depot carries Titan3 Technology TWAR1PG 1-gang round adapter for $3.98. That’s almost $10 cheaper than this item. I agree that it’s a good quality round box adapter, but I disagree with the reviewers that have said it’s good value for the money. I needed 3 more and saved nearly $30!

What I needed to convert my existing cover
I need to seal my round housing, but wanted to use a rectangle waterproof box, so had to use this to seal and convert. This did the job needed. Seals it good and was able to use my waterproof box. Glad I found this adapter/converter.

Didn't work
Didn't fit my original receptacle box however I did have the option or replacing with a newer one, I would just would have to accept it sticking out an inch but as this would have been behind a TV, didn't think that would be a concern. So off to the hardware stores I went. In the end I tried six different round electric boxes both metal and plastic including one by TayMac trying to find one that would fit the screw hole alignment of this adapter however in the end none would line up with the existing holes and I wasn't willing to drill new ones and try to make this work. There is one review with pictures showing a compatible box however looking closely at the picture it would appear that there is no way that a GFCI receptacle would fit if you used the screw holes recommended by the reviewer due to other screw posts being in the way. I also went to TayMac's website hoping to find more details about compatible junction boxes however clicking on this or any other product results in a 'Sorry! We'll be back soon' message. I see there are reviews of people who made this work via modifications and some that don't mention needing any however based on my experience I wonder if any current round electric boxes will work with this.

Perfect for round box conversion
This is the 3rd one of these I’ve purchased! For some reason the builder of the house I’m in used round electrical boxes for the outdoor outlets which I discovered upon removing the old ones that didn’t open all the way. This was the perfect solution instead of switching the box out since there is wood siding that would have to then be replaced.

Way overpriced, but the only game in town
This is really just a single piece of lightweight plastic, with one side being sort of rubberized. It's exorbitantly overpriced, but I couldn't find anything like it at any of the big box stores. I guess I'm happy it exists, but I can't help feeling like I way overpaid.

Perfect adapter for wrong shaped electric box
This was perfect for allowing me to use the existing round electric box to mount a new outdoor floodlight that called for an octagonal box. This fit perfectly, had a foam gasket for a tight fit, and probably saved me an hour of time to swap boxes.

Doesn’t fit without some modifications. Works out good.
As others have stated, this plate’s mounting holes don’t fit a standard 4” octagon electrical box (maybe it fits some plastic box somewhere). It is however one of the only available adapter plate solutions in Canada, but needs a couple of easy holes drilled into it. Photo #1 below, shows how the holes in this plate line up with the 6-32 mounting screws of standard devices (receptacles, switches, GFCI’s etc). Photo #2 shows how moving one of the mounting screws up or down can make them line up with the octagon box mounting holes. Photo #3 shows where you need to drill another hole in this plate to line up with the octagon box hole. Photo #4 shows that an oval hole will give you leveling flexibility. Photo #5 I drilled out the top mounting hole in my GFCI mounting-ear to fit the 8-32 machine screw required to mount the device to the octagon box, and it works. Photo #6 shows that the cover plate will cover the larger opening in this adapter plate, but one screw will be the 8-32 that goes into the box, and the other will be the short little 6-32 mounting screw that comes with the cover plate (a second little hole in the adapter plate may be required to get the short screw all the way in). Easy peasy-ish.

Ça fait la job mais j’aurais aimé qu’elle soit en métal

Not what I expected
This may not have been designed for North America. I was suprised to find the hole for the receptical is not the size I required for a typical North American plug. Its to big.

Wrong sized holes
The items works as advertised but the only issue is that the holes don't line up with the holes on the receptacle boxes.
