Does the fire pit come with a tag or paper work indicating that it is CSA approved?

The owner's manual shows that the unit is CSA certified and is also CSA design certified.

can you use this fire pit on a covered porch?

I think it would depend on the height of the ceiling/roof. It puts off a good amount of heat but because of the diameter it dissipates about 5 to 6 feet up. So if your roof was hi enough I think youd be fine.
