Simply fill the jar completely full, seal with the included lid and invert onto the feeder base; vacuum pressure in the jar quickly stops any dripping or water.

* HOW DOES IT WORK: The feeder works by filling the included jar with sugar or water, then tightening the included lid onto the jar. The plastic base is flipped and pressed onto the lid firmly. The whole feeder is flipped over and slid partially into the entrance of the hive. The vacuum pressure in the sealed jar will prevent continued dripping. * HOW THE BEES USE IT: Bees enter through the front of the feeder into the space below the lid and drink through the perforated lid. The feeder is easy to monitor from outside the hive so you know when it is time to refill. * CAN BE USED WITH MOST HIVES: The feeders can be used with 5-frame, 8-frame, 10-frame Langstroth hives, flow hives, nuc/nucleus hives and top bar hives. If the feeder will not slide into the entrance, it can be used easily as an internal feeder. * MULTIPLE FEEDERS PER HIVE: Multiple feeders can be placed on the entrance of most hives. 8-frame hives can fit 2 feeders and 10-frame hives can hold 3 feeders. Even more can be placed on the top of the hive over the inner cover. Using multiple feeders significantly reduces the number of trips needed to refill the jars. * EASY TO USE: The perforated lid is removable for easy cleaning and securing onto the jar. A plastic piece on the bottom of the feeder base is removable to make popping out the perforated metal lid easier. You don't have to worry about the lid getting stuck on the jar as you do with glass jars. The flexible plastic allows you to easily remove the lid, even if it has crystalized sugar on the jar threads.
