Rub with Love by Tom Douglas (Steak, 1 lb)

For Christmas, Santa (in the guise of my wife) bought me a Tom Douglas Rub Sampler pack, with four rubs ... steak, chicken, pork, and salmon. While the other three ranged from "ok" to "good", the steak rub really caught my attention (and palate). I've tried many steak marinades and rubs over the years, and while there are a couple that I like to routinely use, I haven't found any that really interested me in a long while. Until now. I truly enjoy a good rib-eye steak, and this rub is almost perfectly paired to that cut of meat. Tasty and sweet, but not too sweet, and a gentle bite at the back end. Its primary ingredients are brown sugar, chile, garlic, and rosemary. The descriptive blurb says that the rub also works with chicken and roast potatoes, and that may be true for most, but to me this is a steak rub. I did try it on some hamburgers I was broiling, and it was "good" but not as good as on a steak. Anyway, my 3.5 oz sample size jar soon ran out, so I bought this 16 oz jar, which should keep me going for a year or two, as I don't eat steak every week, nor do I use this rub every time. Note that my wife likes it, but doesn't love it, although she did really like the chicken rub from the sampler on chicken breasts. I guess I'm saying to try the smaller size jar first before getting this huge one, as everybody's taste varies. But for me, this is now one of my top 2 steak seasonings for everyday use, and unlike my wife, I love it. Five stars.

This is our fav steak rub out there!! Excellent product, we buy this large one and refill the smaller container. It is a staple for our steaks and the grill. Highly recommend!! Love this brand! All their rubs are high quality ingredients and long lasting. Tastes great on steak and easy to use.

It’s a huge tub of steak rub. They stopped selling this brand where we purchased it before and we loved it so I ordered it on here and got a lot for the money I paid. It’s a great steak rub that I highly recommend to anyone who wants a great at home steak.

Family loved this rub. Said it was better than the expensive steak restaurant we recently went to. I pan seared strip steaks with a thick layer of rub on all sides. Seared/cooked in generous butter with fresh garlic and thyme sprigs in a freshly seasoned cast iron skillet. When done the steaks had a clear layer of char and rub which was delicious. Kids were fighting over the pieces with more char after their first byte. Yummy! I am definitely ordering more!

I actually have the three rub kit; steak, chicken, and salmon. I usually mix my own rubs however this is tasty and a time saver. The recent purchase is for replenishing my depleated stock.

It is good and worth a try but I am still looking for that very personal individual preference steak rub. Who knows this might be yours!

You will not be disappointed, a must have if you are grilling steak. You just need to roll your steak in this and you will never want a steak prepared another way.

I’ve been using this product for at least 20 years. Best rub I have ever bought. I use it in Chili, Meatloaf and just about everything I make with beef. Have given it for Christmas gifts too.
