## Features

- Red Cluster or Clemson Bottlebrush is a quick, upright, bushy-growing selected cultivar of Callestemon rigidus that generally matures into a large multi-stemmed tree-like bush at about 12 to 15 feet tall. It is a great choice for property and boundary hedges, privacy screens, or small urban lots. Birds and pollinators, including hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, are attracted to the bright red color and nectar, making it a good fit for habitat gardens.
- Care: This is a low-maintenance plant that requires little pruning once established. Plant in fertile, well-draining soil in a location that receives 6 to 8 hours of bright, direct sunlight daily. Adequate irrigation is essential to maintain soil moisture. Feed a high-quality, bloom-boosting fertilizer annually in the spring. Prune after flowering to maintain uniform size and shape.
- Indoor: This tree is frequent choice for indoor Bonsai culture by experienced growers. However, the plant is not a good candidate for indoor growing generally. It requires a significant amount of direct sunlight and space that cannot be provided in a typical indoor environment. It is best enjoyed as an outdoor specimen.
- Climate: A semi-tropical tree/shrub that is best suited for outdoor growing in USDA Hardiness Zones 8 through 11. It is a very tough and versatile plant that that can be used in many versatile and interesting ways. We recommend protecting from frost and freezing in all Zones for the best year round appearance, earliest flowering and longest life.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How big is the plant that they send tom you? What size pot?**
A: Emerald Goddess Gardens generally has this bottlebrush is 2 different sizes. Starter plants that generally average a minimum of about 8 inches tall growing and shipped in 4 inch diameter plastic pots or mature, well established plants that are ready to be set out into the landscape in the recommended Zones once the danger of frost or freeze has passed. These are usually around 36 inches tall at a minimum. are growing and shipped in 10 inch diameter plastic pots. and are shipped 1 plant per carton only by UPS Ground Service within the contiguous United States. This size cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, or the US Protectorates.

**Q: Will this grow in Chattanooga, Tn?**
A: You are in Zone 7, so it's iffy. Some sources do rate bottlebrush as hardy in Zone 7, however, I would say that would depend on having several mild winters in a row for it to have time to mature and acclimate. So, possibly, maybe, if the mother nature is kind. We generally caution buyers in your zone that there is a fairly significant risk that bottlebrush may not survive a severe winter there.

**Q: I live in Omaha Nebraska and would have tree outside in large pot and want to bring inside each winter to the sunroom - do you think this would work?**
A: I guess so. I live in the deep south and in the past I had one to freeze even here. It will take some cold, but I don't think it would survive with continuous freezes all winter. The ones I saw on the coast or near Mobile, Alabama got big, like a camellia bush, but the one I have is slow growing; it is only about 2 feet high after 1 year. You will probably need to transplant it after a few years to a bigger pot and get a pot stand with rollers so you could move it easily.

**Q: When should i order these for the eastern North Carolina area?**
A: In moderate weather the beginning of spring. Soon as you can dig the ground and heavy frost( if any) is over. I have mine in a container. Too cold in Chicago to leave out all year.
